Evanston Early Childhood Council to Host Inaugural Fun Fair at Robert Crown Community Center

Families Invited to Come Learn About Early Learning Programs & Resources Available

EVANSTON, IL (Feb. 6, 2023) – The Evanston Early Childhood Council will kick off a year-long calendar of planned events, with a resource and fun fair for families, on February 25, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Robert Crown Community Center at 1801 Main Street in Evanston. The public is invited, and there will be refreshments, giveaways and activities for young children while families explore the many early childhood resources and providers available to them – many at no cost.

The first few years of life are the most important for brain development and learning. “Readiness for Kindergarten really begins at birth,” said Tina Vanderwarker, Director of EECC. “We hope that families of young children will come learn more about the amazing opportunities available to them for their child’s success, from pre-natal to Kindergarten, and beyond!”

Families and caregivers are invited to come learn more about the importance of the birth to 5-years early learning experiences, and the more than 25 organizations and programs that comprise EECC, including a variety of fully-funded, free resources available to them.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Research shows that children with access to quality early learning are more prepared for kindergarten with increased vocabulary, better language, math, and social skills. They have more positive relationships with classmates and score higher on schoolreadiness assessments.

The Evanston Early Childhood Council (EECC) helps to provide resources and promote policies that strengthen families, children, and communities. Its mission is to promote high quality services in early childhood education, share resources, disseminate best practices, support families and children and advocate for equity, inclusion, access, and the highest quality care for all of the children in Evanston and the surrounding community.
