IN TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

In public spaces, office spaces, or large areas, lighting fixtures are typically designed to provide sufficient illumination while keeping costs low. As a result, they often have a cold appearance, are prone to glare, and their design may not blend well with the surrounding environment.

Materials & Manufacturing Process

Metal-circular and streamlined cuts.

Sunlight illuminating the space between architecture and nature creates a play of light and shadow, bringing warmth and radiance.

Amid sleek curves, a beam of light cascades down onto the natural wood grain.

Wood-process the veneer to stay flexible, avoid deformation, and trim the wood edges.

Structure-considerations for light source heat dissipation and load-bearing position.

The bedside lamp position can often cause issues such as user glare, insufficient or excessive light intensity, and inadequate light coverage. The goal is to optimize these problems while maintainin both functionality and aesthetics.

The interaction between butterflies and plants adds vitality to nature. Delicate plants highlight butterflies as they rest , creating elegant curves.

Adjusting the light fixture’s angles introduces new dynamics to the space , like butterflies fluttering, creating a beautiful scene in nature.

The curved wooden lampshade shapes and envelops the light source.

In the th century, concerts were common social events, where people connected and communicated. However, in the th century, the younger generation, used to the convenience of music streaming, turned listening into a solitary activity, lacking direct interaction and ritual.

Meets young people's desire for a sense of ritual in their lives and their social needs.

Recent data shows that vinyl records have made a significant comeback over the past decade. In , vinyl record sales in the U.S. surpassed CD sales for the first time since .

I attempt to break down the emotions and perceptions related to the sense of ritual. The following five items serve as the criteria for evaluation.Participants will evaluate the turntable's operation and use an emotional survey to assess their feelings and experiences.

Design a digital vinyl record player for the younger generation that meets their needs for a sense of ritual in daily life and social interaction. Simplify and strengthen the usage process of the player and Incorporate a digital features to emphasize the concept of community.

Port Road

Taichung City consistently has the highest traffic accident rate in Taiwan, particularly at the merging points of fast and slow lanes.

goal

Reduce traffic accidents at merging points between fast and slow lanes.

possibility

- Analyze driver behavior during lane merging

- Anticipate potential scenarios in both fast and slow lanes during the merge

-Focus on effective information design to guide drivers

reflection

- Design scenarios that enhance driver comfort and reduce stress at merge points

- Consider key stakeholders (e.g., drivers, road safety authorities) in the design process

Field Observation & Pain point analysis

- When entering the slow lane from the fast lane

, drivers need to be aware of both the bus lane and vehicles in the slow lane.

- There are many blind spots when transitioning from the fast lane to the slow lane.

- At the intersection of the slow and fast lanes, the presence of buses often creates blind spots.

- When a car changes lanes and a bus is present, it is easy to cause traffic congestion.

Technical Application

Based on Subaru's EyeSight adaptive cruise control uses cameras to detect vehicle types (motorcycles, cars, bicycles), calculate the distance between vehicles, and recognize their movement. Similarly, in this warning system, cameras are used to detect vehicle distance and determine whether a vehicle is about to merge or change lanes, with the information displayed on the system's screen.

Application Benefits

- Mainly Installed at high-traffic merge points (e.g., Taiwan Boulevard, Taichung)

- Assisting drivers in safe lane merges

- Increased traffic efficiency

- Reducing dependence on traffic

As many as % of homeless individuals have previously worked or are currently employed, though most are in atypical and unstable job types. Their work skills often no longer meet the productivity standards of the job market, leaving them feeling compelled to walk away.

goal

Establishing opportunities for homeless individuals to reintegrate into society.

possibility

- Addressing from housing, work, and psychological aspects

- Returning to the workforce can be challenging, so creating trial job opportunities is essential

- Create situations that require their input, fostering engagement and achievement

- Main reasons for inability to reintegrate into society

- Creating reasonable situations and providing appropriate support

- How to create a positive feedback loop with the social environment

Fieldwork & Interview

Environmental survey of the Taichung Train Station area.

Through interviews, we can better understand the real situation and actual needs.

Corner Task Station is a shared facility designed to help homeless individuals truly reintegrate into society. Since direct reintegration into the workforce can be challenging, it creates new professional circles as a form of adaptation before returning to society. It offers various job options and is located at bus stops for easy access, ensuring that their efforts are recognized.

1 Application for Work Permit

Homeless individuals can apply for a work permit through social workers and then begin using the workstation.

2 Operating the Task Station Interface

Choose work projects provided by government or social welfare organizations, focusing on temporary, short-term tasks.

3 Storage System

Provides homeless individuals with a space to store personal belongings while working , alleviating the burden of carrying excess items.

4 Transportation accessibility

Why not go back to a real job?

Few employers are willing to hire former homeless individuals due to stereotypes and mistrust.

To address mobility challenges for homeless individuals and allow the public to observe their efforts, helping remove negative stereotypes.

Why is it set up at bus stops?

-Homeless people are often found in urban areas.

-Bus stops are safe, public spaces, unlike stigmatized facilities.

-High flexibility allows adaptation as homeless hotspots shift; old stations can be repurposed for storage.

Why is a scoring mechanism needed?

-It helps individuals feel a sense of participation and accomplishment , boosting their willingness to reintegrate into society.

-Social workers can use the scoring system to assess readiness for job placement or housing opportunities.

5 Scoring mechanism

The scoring system boosts chances of securing a full-time job and encourages saving for a housing fund, aiding reintegration into society.
