Deserved recognition

Welcome to the second edition of EV Zone. I hope this newsletter finds you well and that you share my pride in our mission to manage supply chains for the world’s leading brands, powering the global economy by enabling trade.

The world of logistics is evolving rapidly, and so is EV Cargo. In this edition, we will explore the latest developments across our global network, celebrate our achievements and awards and look ahead to the future of logistics with optimism and determination. We are delighted about the recognition we have been receiving from respected industry experts. EV Cargo is building a reputation as one of the best and most forward-thinking logistics operators, with innovation and sustainability at the heart of everything we do.

We are honoured to have won the Sustainable Transport Award at the Motor Transport Awards 2023. Sustainability is one of EV Cargo’s three core values and it is fantastic that our efforts are being acknowledged across the sector. Similarly, we are proud to have been named as one of the top 10 logistics providers again this year by CILT UK.

Our 2023 Employee Engagement Survey is live from 11 – 29 September and you can find out everything you need to know about the survey, and how to complete it, in this edition of EV Zone.

It’s only by our colleagues sharing feedback that we can achieve our goals and future ambitions. As we

forge ahead into the second half of 2023, I’d like to express my gratitude for your dedication to our business and commitment to our shared values of growth, innovation and sustainability.

Together, we are shaping a brighter future for the logistics industry, one that is not only efficient but also environmentally responsible. Your hard work and commitment highlighted in EV Zone is at that the foundation of our success.

I encourage you to actively engage with this newsletter, as it serves as a platform for us to learn from one another, share our expertise and collaborate to overcome challenges.

Thank you for being an integral part of EV Cargo’s successful development. I look forward to hearing about many more of your achievements in our next edition..

We are continuing our expansion across Southeast Asia with the opening of our new operations in Thailand.

Located in the capital Bangkok, our new office provides a comprehensive range of air, sea and road freight services, contract logistics and customs brokerage for our many customers requiring service to and from Thailand, all powered by EV Cargo people and systems.

Our cargo handling facilities in Bangkok enable buyer’s consolidation, multicountry consolidation and LCL groupage services.

Headed by Pong Asvaraksh, Managing Director EV Cargo Thailand, the new operation in Thailand will be fully integrated into our global logistics execution platform,

which manages the movement by air, sea and road of over $60 billion of merchandise for our customers, between 2,400 country pairs, every year.

As one of the world’s fastest growing economic regions and logistics markets, as well as being an important sourcing origin for retailers and consumer goods brands, Southeast Asia represents a key strategic market for our business. We have been steadily expanding

FOUNDATIONS

Our team in Hong Kong has been busy upholding one of our core values of sustainability, volunteering with Crossroads Foundation which provides relief and development aid in

over 90 countries, including Hong Kong.

They visited the Crossroads Foundation facility in Teun Mun and were split into teams to support with the cleaning and distribution of donated

goods. Thank you to everyone who took part in this and helped to make a real difference.

HELP FOR CHILDREN

Our Switzerland

Branch Manager Samantha

Holdener-Berger has arranged for EV Cargo to support the launch of the Spitex-Mobile, a project from Kinderspitex Switzerland.

The project provides families and groups with disabled children, with vehicles which can accommodate up to six people to help them cope

with their daily lives and travel together, as well as providing a reclining buggy

or wheelchair. Caring for a child with a disability at home can be stressful for

parents. That’s why it’s important for them to go out regularly and have time with their children, but this often requires a specially equipped high-capacity car and even modified passenger cars don’t offer room for siblings or luggage after storing the wheelchair, so common outings are virtually impossible.

We are thrilled to support this project and help make a real difference.

HIVE OF ACTIVITY

Over the past year colleagues at Ashby have been working on a piece of uneven ground to the side of our facility. The first step in this process was to bring in bees, starting with one small colony and hive. The bees established themselves well and there are now three colonies. The team are excited to be harvesting our very own EV

Cargo honey later this year which will be available to buy.

The team have also started work on a 600sqm wildflower meadow, which will take a few years to mature, but is going well so far. Looking to the future, a picnic and breakout area to home three picnic benches on a mown area is planned to provide colleagues with a space away from the office.

SHANGHAI SUPPORT

Sustainability is one of EV Cargo’s core values, with part of this focusing on the positive impact that we can have on our local communities.

Our teams in China have been volunteering across Shanghai to support a number of projects that make a difference to the communities we live and operate in, including:

• Volunteering in a Gerocomium, home for elderly people, helping with food distribution and

organising a birthday party.

• Helping in Yangpu District with traffic maintenance, organised by the local government.

• Volunteering at a local school in Baoshan District,

working with the local government community to support with their security operations.

Thank you to all EV Cargo employees who took part in these activities.

Clearing up river Bride and vroom

At the end of July Trent River Trust volunteers came to site to remove an invasive plant – Himalayan Balsam – from the brook running through our Ashby site. They also took the opportunity to clear all the rubbish, supported by our colleagues. As well as litter, five tyres were removed, one containing a large bullhead fish which was returned to the water. Thank you to all involved.

EV Cargo driver Amber Mushtaq turned up at her wedding in style – in an EV Cargo truck. And Amber looked fantastic as she posed in front of the truck with Jodie Maloney, Shift Manager at Ashby.

GIVE US A BIG H ND

We need your honest feedback about life in our workplaces

EV Cargo is committed to continuously improving our workplace and creating a positive and engaging environment for all employees. To do this effectively, we need your honest feedback.

No matter which business unit or function you work within here at EV Cargo, we want you all to be fulfilled, engaged and motivated to do a great job.

We know that in order for colleagues to help us grow and innovate, we need to listen to what’s working and what’s not, to review where improvements can be made and to collectively discuss how we overcome any challenges.

It’s only by our colleagues sharing feedback that we can achieve our goals and future ambitions – both as EV Cargo and for our colleagues individually.

Our Employee Opinion Survey is put in place so that everyone is provided with an opportunity to have their voice heard.

Our Employee Opinion Survey will be live from 11 – 29 September, look our for your survey invitation that will arrive by email on Monday 11 September or scan the QR-coded posters to complete the survey. Paper surveys will be available for people without access to a computer or smart phone.

RESULTS OF FIRST JOB SATISFACTION SURVEY

THANK YOU FOR TAKING OUR PULSE

Last edition we shared that, as part of our commitment to ensure we are listening, we would be introducing a quarterly Pulse survey, which will assess job satisfaction by measuring how likely colleagues are to recommend EV Cargo to others.

In June we asked one simple question: On a scale of 0-10, how likely are you to recommend EV Cargo as a workplace?

From this we were able to calculate an Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS).

Although an eNPS is unlikely to give a complete picture of how our colleagues feel, it is a good starting point and, over time, it will act as a temperature check which allows a holistic view of our colleagues experience.

We were grateful that so many of you responded and provided your open and

honest feedback.

We had over 600 of our colleagues respond and overall we received an EV Cargo score -17 (eNPS scores range from -100 to +100).

We will now be reviewing the results, along with all comments, centrally with our leadership teams and will discuss these within localised Delivering Better meetings ahead of our next survey in October.

On a scale of 0-10, how likely are you to recommend EV Cargo as a workplace?

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS

Network of colleagues helping to shape a positive workplace culture

As our champion network continues to evolve, we have been meeting monthly to focus on key projects that will help shape a positive workplace culture with high levels of employee engagement for all colleagues.

Here are some examples of the great work our champions have achieved in the last quarter:

1. Employee Engagement Survey: Our champions have been supporting the development of what our 2023 Employee Engagement Survey looks like. They have shared their experience and knowledge, not only in relation to the questions and language used within the survey, but also on how we are best promoting the survey to our diverse populations.

2. Setting colleagues up for success: We have launched a new induction guide and welcome video for all new starters. Further work will continue with our Delivering Better Champions working closely with our Learning and Development Manager to review how we can further enhance our onboarding and induction experience.

3. Wellbeing Centre and Employee Assistance Programme: Our champions are actively promoting our recently launched Employee Assistance Programme and Wellbeing Centre, which is now available via My Rewards, across the business.

4. Global employee handbook: We

successfully launched our new Global Employee Handbook with support and feedback from our Champions.

5. Local divisional | functional meeting forums: These are now taking place in across EVC Technology, EVC Solutions and Palletforce and we are working with business areas to set up local forums for EVC Global Forwarding, EV Downton and EVC Central functions. If you would like to help us form these local forums in your business area please contact Mike Walsh (mike.walsh@evcargo. com). The purpose of these forums is to meet monthly and discus locally any Delivering Better initiates that will

help with improving workplace culture and employee engagement.

6. Focus groups: Smaller focus groups of Champions are being asked to get together and work on certain priorities with local HR Teams. By having smaller focus groups, which represent our diverse workforce, we are able to factor in all feedback and suggestions into the end solutions that are created. Initial priorities being reviewed include reviewing our approach to enhancing the wellbeing of our colleagues in 2024 and assessing how we could introduce an employee-led suggestion scheme to further support our values of having growth and innovation in how

Thursday 3rd August was cycle to work day in the UK, so Ian Moran, Group Customs & Trade Solutions Director, who works at our Southampton site, left his car at home and took to his bike for his morning commute.

On his 14km ride he counted 36 cyclists, many of them looked like they were on their way to work too.

That is potentially up to 36 cars off the road. Why don’t you give it a try this week?

GREEN PRAISE

We are pleased that our efforts to reduce Green House Gas emissions have been recognized and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This is an important milestone for EV Cargo. The SBTi is a collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute, and the World Wide Fund for Nature. Its mission is to establish sciencebased environmental target-setting as standard practice.

Having EV Cargo´s targets approved by the SBTi lends us immense credibility.

It shows our stakeholders that we are serious about our commitment to a low-carbon economy and are actively contributing to the global goal of keeping global warming below 1.5C, as set by the Paris Agreement.
