EUSA MOURNS THE LOSS OF ITS HONORARY PRESIDENT It is with great regret and deep sadness that we have learned the passing away of our esteemed Honorary President, Mr. Enno Harms, on August 12, 2009, in Hannover, Germany. EUSA grieves over the loss of our dear friend who dedicated his life to the university sports movement. Mr. Enno Harms was one of the originators of EUSA and its President from 1999 to 2005. Professionally he was connected to the University of Hanover as its Director of the Department for University Sport. We convey all of our sympathy to his family, the loved ones and the German University Sports Federation. the Honorary President was bid by Mr. Alberto Gualtieri, EUSA President, Mr. Siniša Jasnić, Vice-President and Mr. Matjaž Pečovnik, Secretary General.

EUSA NEWS On the occasion of Universiade Belgrade 2009, the President of EUSA, Mr Alberto Gualtieri had a meeting with the President of ENAS, Mr. Peter Lynen. Mr. Lynen presented a draft proposal for a future common activity between the two organizations to the EUSA President. The proposal

will be discussed on the next EUSA Executive Committee meeting. Through Stefan Bergh, the FISU Vice President, President Gualtieri has also been maintaining a correspondence with Mr. Jan Holze, ENGSO Youth President to deepen the analysis of a possible collaboration with this organization. This item too will be submitted to next Executive Committee Meeting to be held in Zadar on October 16-17, 2009.

NEWS FROM MEMBER FEDERATIONS RUSSIA

On July 17th, 2009, President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev met the winners and medallists of the Russian delegation at the 25th Summer Universiade in Belgrade, Serbia. The meeting was held in Ekaterininsky Hall of the Kremlin in Moscow. The Russian delegation headed the medal table tally with 76 medals (27 gold, 22 silver & 27 bronze). The President congratulated the members of the Russian student’s team - sportsmen and coaches - with the victory and wished them success in future competitions and their university studies.
