European University Sports
NEWSLETTER Dear friends, On behalf of the European University Sport Association, I’m very glad to present the activities of EUSA. The new dimension of FISU in which Continental Associations should undertake a different role from the past, in collaboration with the FISU Executive Committee, attributed EUSA and other Regional and Continental Associations basic importance for the University Sport activity all over our planet. This will permit an equable standard of participation for all FISU Members. EUSA was founded in 1999 and began its activities in 2001, initially with 2 European University Championships witnessing the participation of 20 teams. In 2007, more than 3,000 students and a number of about 300 Universities coming from 40 National University Sport Association are participating in our events. Members represent student population of their own countries, and the championships are aimed for Universities to compete amongst themselves - and not among National Student Delegations. We are very happy to observe that this EUSA model of University activity is going to be adopted by other Continental Associations. I can interpret it as a premonitory sign of a more intensive collaboration among Continental Associations for a wider Sport activity for all the students in the World. On behalf of EUSA, I wish to the next FISU Executive Committee to be able to gather and develop the strong request coming from the University Sport Students for the possibility for all of them to be fully part of our exciting Movement with the same opportunities and chances.
