2nd EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY FUTSAL CHAMPIONSHIP Latina, the youngest Italian City situated 70km southern to Rome, hosted the 2nd European University Futsal Championship. The first championship took place last year in Cyprus with 12 participating teams. This year 15 university teams, national university champions from 13 European countries came to Italy. The Champions defenders were students from University of Nis (SCG) and not an easy job was waiting for them. Especially since we had new teams from Finland, Russia, Italy, Austria and Switzerland joining the European students futsal family. from every university team carried the flag and name of the university. After the Gaudeamus Igitur anthem and speeches of the President of the Organising Committee Mr. Alberto Gualtieri and EUSA Representative Mrs. Tiina Beljaeva, the Mayor of Latina Mr. Vincenzo Zaccheo declared the championship open. The dancers made the ceremony even more interesting. Every team had its own volunteer, who accompanied them and helped, if needed. Amongst the volunteers there were also two Dutch girls, who volunteered in the frame of the Student Commission training program. They created the daily newsletter which was highly appreciated by the teams. Most of the teams arrived to the Rome Airport, from where the Organising Committee provided transportation to Latina. All teams were accommodated in the four stars Victoria Hotel, which was appreciated by the students very much. Sometimes the students were too noisy in the night; but the management of the hotel looked through their fingers.

Beside the competition program, the participants could enjoy also in social activities, among them the guided tour to Rome was the most interesting thing (beside beach parties, of course). The days in Italy were very hot (up to 40째C), so the hotel pool and the beach (which was just 6 km from Latina) were visited by the players quite often.

During the tournament big busses were taking teams to the sports hall and the students restaurant, where lunch and dinner were served. The students found the food to be very good and delicious. Very nice dinner was offered for the team leaders and EUSA representatives in the restaurant in Latina with the presence of the Mayor of Latina. The Opening Ceremony was organized on the evening after the first games.
