4th EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP The 4th European University Volleyball Championship took place from September 21st – 26th, 2004 in Braga, Portugal with 17 university teams (8 men and 9 women) from 9 European countries participating.

The Portuguese University Sport Association (FADU), the University of Minho and the Minho University Academic Union (AAUM) and the Organising Committee did a great job. There were many student actively involved in the organisation and the running of the event. With the professional staff and volleyball specialists, it created a very positive and supportive environment and very successful delivery. Teams were accommodated in four different hotels. Most of the hotels were very nice, more than students’ standard and more than students expected. Catering was in the university’s cantine. Food was simple and very tasty. Team transport was by shuttle bus, and proved to be very efficient and effective.
Teams started arriving in Braga two days before the official start of the Championship. The Technical meeting and the draw took place one day before the Opening Ceremony, held on September 21st. The Secretary of State for Education for the Minho Region and the Rector of the University of Minho opened the Championship.

The shuttle service was also essential to support the social program. There was an after party every evening in the discotec or student club. Students have found lots of possibilities to socialize. Also, the refresments’ week was organised at the same time. They were cheering the teams and it gave a good atmosphere!
