4th EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP MULHOUSE / FRANCE 2004 12 men and 7 women university teams from 11 European countries took part at the 4th European University Basketball Championship, which was organised by the French University Sports Association and University of Haute Alsace from June 28th to July 1st, 2004 in Mulhouse, France.
The tournament began after the opening ceremony. The men teams were devided into 4 groups; the winners of the groups qualified in the semifinals; while the others had to fight for the placement from the 5th place on. The women teams were devided into 2 groups, best two teams from each group qualified in the semifinals.
The participants arrived at Mulhouse on Sunday, June 27th. After the accreditation and accomodation in the Students Hostle and the Centre Sportif, the first Heads of delegations meeting was organised. The next morning the opening ceremony took place at the Palais du Sport. The CoPresident of the Organising Committee Mr. Alain Dieterlen welcomed the teams, while the represenative of EUSA Mr. Matjaz Pecovnik officially opened the Championship. In the evening, the welcoming reception for all Heads of delegations was organised by the Mayor of the City.
