KITTY’S CLAWS Charity Support recently held its first-ever fashion show fundraiser, raising €520 to help care for stray cats in the Albox area. The event, named ‘Kitty’s Katwalk’, took place at the Cortijo la Cueva Rock & Roll B&B in Arboleas, hosted by Steve and Josie Ashton-Mosley. Volunteers and supporters gathered for an afternoon of fun and fashion, with local models taking to the catwalk to show off donated clothing. Guests enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and kept the bar busy throughout the event. All funds raised will go towards Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programmes and food for cat colonies. The charity also supports emergency vet care for sick or injured stray cats

Family Day THE Provincial Council of Almeria has planned a fun and varied programme to celebrate International Family Day on Saturday, May 10, in Sorbas. This year’s event is themed ‘Families for a Healthy Life’ to highlight the importance of healthy eating and living for a better quality of life. The day will start with the Provincial Family Council meeting, which will discuss family welfare in the region. The event will also include a ‘Families for a Healthy Life’ talk by a nutritionist from Única Group, open to everyone, at the Teatro Villaespesa in Sorbas. From 11.00am to 2.00pm, the Plaza de la Constitución will be filled with family activities such as games, face painting, family Zumba, a bouncy castle, and giant games. There will also be churros with chocolate, a brass band, stands from local associations, and a giant paella. Local councillors encourage all families in Almeria to join the celebration, stressing the importance of family in the community. Image: Shutterstock/ djcodrin
