Los Montesinos on fire for second time A FIRE claimed a significant portion of the vegetation of the Finca de La Marquesa in Los Montesinos. Although there were no personal injuries, one-third of the land, or 14,500 square metres were

destroyed in the blaze; this included dozens of varieties of palm and pine trees. The blaze began some time before 7am and was reported by passers-by and construction workers on the property.

Firefighters and numerous Guardia Civil officers responded. It was not until 10am that the fire was considered under control. Although the cause was not determined, authorities have not ruled out arson, especially since this was the second fire on the property in the last month. Residents of Los Montesinos are known to visit the estate once a year in honour of the Virgin of Rosario. Currently the town is working for the property to be officially recognised as a Point of Cultural Interest by the Culture Council. TOGETHER: Residents help sort out food collected for the community.
