A MAN has been arrested in Murcia by the Guardia Civil accused of abusing two of his nieces when they were children. The two sisters, who are now 15 and 24 years old, had finally decided to report the alleged actions of their 64-year-old uncle, which took place over a number of years. The man has been instructed to report to the courts once a month, and a restraining order has been placed around the victims as well as the uncle being prevented from having any communication with them. According to reports, the oldest of the victims claimed she’s suffered continued abuse until she reached 18. As for the youngest child, it’s alleged the abuse began three years ago and continued until the uncle was arrested. The two girls and the detained man live in the Murcia municipality of Sangonera la Verde and are all Spanish. The uncle continues to be under arrest.

FTER close to 14 months moored in a dock close to the Panoramis centre in Alicante, the Port Authority has asked for a public auction to get rid of the replica of the Santisima Trinidad. After removing it from a more prominent position close to the Hotel Melia back in July 2017, the authority declared the ship abandoned in February of this year. According to reports, the starting price for the auction has been set at €152,000, and if there is no successful bidder it has already been decided it will end up in the scrapyard. Any interested in acquiring the ship can visit it by prior appointment with the Port of Alicante authorities, and the deadline for the bids is October 30. The auction is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, November 7. It is understood that the ship could be returned to being open to the public, but for it to receive proper authorisation it must pass an inspection in a dry dock. The nearest is in Cartagena or Denia
