Resort is rocked by Soul Man’s death By Tara Rippin BENIDORM is in shock after the sudden death of one of Costa Blanca’s mostloved entertainers, Lee Wayne Bench, aka Scott Bench Taylor. Lee, who performed mainly soul and Motown songs at bars and clubs all over the resort, died suddenly aged 43. It’s unclear how Lee died, and moving tributes have been pouring in from family, friends and fans, rocked by the news. Friend Alison Cox, wrote on Facebook: ‘Sleep tight my angel. I’m stuck for words of what to say and how I feel. You became one of my dearest and closest friends. My heart goes out to Hayley and your boys at this very sad time.’ Lorraine Banner said: “We had the privilege of Lee performing at my daughter’s wedding six years ago. In the words of that phenomenal movie he was ‘the greatest showman.’ She added: “Another fond memory I have of Lee was when he performed along with others for a fundraiser to raise money for my nephew’s school. a lovely guy I am still in shock, had the pleasure of meeting him when he started out in Benidorm, he will be missed by everyone RIP Soul Man.” Paul Bell said: “Seen this lad loads of times. Very talented and raised the bar in every way. So sad to hear he has passed on, will be missed in Benidorm that’s for sure. xx” A cremation was expected to take place at Villajoysa Tanatorium, yesterday (Thursday).
