WO concurrent operations one by the National Police and another from the Guardia Civil - have resulted in three people arrested as they tried to allegedly smuggle cocaine into AlicanteElche Airport from Brazil. A total of 12 kilos of cocaine was seized. The first success concerned two men, aged 33 and 37, who were acting suspiciously and had their luggage searched by the Canine and Drug Unit based at the airport. The drugs weren’t that easy to find at first, but when one case had been taken apart they were found hidden inside the lining. The other arrest by the Guardia Civil found four kilos of cocaine in a large suitcase sealed with plastic and secured

and personal belongings. H o w e v e r, o n c e t h e clothes were taken out, 11 4 s m a l l p o t s o f w h a t appeared to be clothing dye were discovered.
House collapse in Orihuela Costa traps two by Ray Chadwick TWO people have been rescued alive following a partial collapse of a house on the Orihuela Costa. The incident happened at 8am on Wednesday morning in the popular Laguna II urbanisation, and according to reports, firefighters who rushed to the scene cordoned off and evicted 60 people
from 15 properties. At least eight have been affected by the collapse. Local Police, Guardia Civil, ambulances and fire brigades from Torrevieja, Orihuela and Almoradi combined to control the rescue operation. In addition, the Canine Unit containing sniffer dogs from Elche were also in attendance in case they were needed to find any more trapped people. The two people rescued are understood to be
British and have been taken to Torrevieja Hospital. One is suffering from severe shock and the other with cuts and bruises. Mayor of Orihuela
