A CAT which had been stuck in a tree for more than 24 hours was finally rescued by firefighters in Torrevieja. Local people were alerted to the plight of the feline as it was continually meowing throughout its ordeal when it found itself stuck at the top of a palm tree in Calle Peñalara in Los Altos and unable to get down by its own steam. When the fire brigade arrived at the scene, they managed to reach the cat with the help of an automatic ladder who, according to witness reports, didn’t show any sign of resistance such was its relief. The story had an even happier ending as a local British resident decided to adopt the cat when it was realised it didn’t have an owner.
