Fire rages through the night by Caroline Tyszka
Well done England ON Saturday afternoon Benidorm prepared itself for yet another England World Cup match, with the police presence high and roads closed just prior to the final whistle. Similarly to the match on Wednesday against Croatia, the fans were on their best behaviour, with the police being left to merely look on as the bars emptied and the crowds went home.

RESIDENTS in Relleu and surrounding areas were awoken in the middle of the night to the sounds of sirens as a fire took hold of forest areas nearby. The fire, which started in the very early hours of Wednesday morning, quickly spread through the area known as El Mas de la Garrofera. The blaze was so ferocious flames could be seen clearly from Benidorm. Several firefighting units battled the blaze through the night without air support, who are not authorised to fly after dark.
