FIREFIGHTERS based in Almoradi were called to rescue a three-year-old boy who had been trapped inside a car in Calle Geranio de Almoradi. Events unfolded after the young boy and his parents left their house and the toddler managed to get into their car. As he shut the door behind him, his distraught parents realised their son was locked inside with the car and house keys with him. In the ensuing panic, the emergency services were called to free the boy who were about to break the rear window of the car when his father recalled there was a spare car key in the house. The firefighters instead gained entry to get the key without causing any damage to the property... and freed the boy.

So far, around €23,000 has been raised thanks to the generosity of the local people and a number of further events have been planned throughout the summer. Three weeks ago, Nigel, his mum Jacqueline and his grandmother June flew up to the Clinica Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona for initial discussions and tests. Within hours of the operation brave Nigel’s mum told his Facebook followers that he was awake, sitting up in bed. The results of this trial operation will dictate Nigel’s future course of treatment.
