Reporting The News The people have spoken TEUL ADA-MORAIRA citizens have chosen to extend the CV-743 road and adapt it for cyclists and pedestrians. The project was voted most popular by residents in the council’s ‘Your Teulada-Moraira, your say’ initiative – with 295 out of 462 votes. The council will spend approximately €290,000 executing the project, around the same as last year when citizens voted for the council to purchase the Pinaret plots and create a green zone. The council is still working on the Pinaret project which, when completed, will offer residents a place to relax close to centre of Teulada. Works will begin on the CV-743 road next year.

Two years in prison for trying to bribe mayor. by Tahnee Wright THE BUSINESSMAN accused of trying to bribe Benitachell Mayor Josep Antoni Femenia was sentenced to two years in prison at Alicante Provincial Court earlier this week. Fernando Jesus TL must also pay a €5,400 fine for offering the mayor €50,000 in exchange for speeding up the formalities of a lawsuit he intended to file against Benitachell council. A majority seven of nine members of the jury found the businessman guilty for bribery. The events date back to May 2012, when the council demolished a petrol station on the road that connects Benitachell and Javea. The demolition was ordered Superior Court of Justice of the Comunitat Valenciana (TSJCV). One year on, in May 2013, Jesus TL, who owned the petrol station, filed a claim for equity liability. Another year later in August 2014, he arrived at Benitachell Town Hall and asked the mayor to go for coffee with him. It was at this meeting that Jesus TL told the mayor he intended on filing a
