by Tahnee Wright THE Spanish government has scheduled more talks with airport unions to avoid the proposed 25 days of strikes.

The strikes were announced in May

by CC.OO., UGT and USE unions across all Aena airports if workers’ demands over salaries and rights were not addressed before mid-August.

However, the secretary of State

Infrastructure, Transport and Living, Julio Gomez-Pomar, said after this Tuesday’s (August 29) meeting that both sides are willing to reach an agreement.

He also said the state needed more time to fully respond to the unions’ requests as it affects various governmental bodies.

The Secretary General of the CC. OO. union, Francisco Casado, said the workers’ demands are fair and

“adequate.”

The next meeting is scheduled for next Thursday (September 7) but the proposed strikes would run from September 15 to December 30.

The full list of planned strikes is as follows: • September: 15, 17, 22, 24 and 29 • October; 1, 6, 11, 15, 27, 30 and 31 • November: 3 and 5 • December: 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30

In Spain, Aena manages 46 airports (including Alicante-Elche, Murcia-San Javier and Valencia) and two heliports and saw 230.2 million passengers pass through its airports in 2016. It made a net profit of €1,164 million in the same year.

If the strikes go ahead they will have adverse effects on Spain’s busy national bank holidays in October, November and December including the Christmas period.

by Fabio DeLucci LA NUCIA has temporarily suspended new building licences and urban development in areas affected by the new General Structure Plan (PGO).

This in turn goes a step further towards passing the new General Urban Development Plan (PGOU) which will provide measures for protecting 60 per cent of the town’s land, according

to municipal sources. This replaces the current development plan which dates from 1988.

The new PGOU is based on sustainable growth, predicting an increase of 10,000 inhabitants over the next 20 years, growing from the present 20,000 to 30,000.

This is a more conservative and sustainable figure than earlier estimates which foresaw a population of 46,000 by the 2030s, the same sources re-

vealed.

Areas earmarked for growth are both inside the town in the Planet area, as well as La Nucia’s outlying urbanisations. The town hall also intends to set aside land for non-residential development with a view to attract industry and commerce.

A ‘significant’ amount of land has also been allocated for health centres and schools.

Up in flames A VAN parked along Javea’s Arenal burst into flames earlier this week, alarming passers-by.

The van – which belonged to one of the market stall vendors – is reported to have caught fire because of a mechanical failure concerning the brakes.

Third in Spain TRIVAGO searches for Teulada-Moraira are up 46 per cent since last year and the municipality is the third most searched for national destination in the whole of Spain after Formentera and Lekeitio, figures revealed earlier this week.

Mayor Carlos Linares attributes the results to the “good management of local businesses” and thanked “local entrepreneurs” for their efforts.

The figures come after July’s municipal occupancy figures were almost six per cent higher than last year’s figures.

The advertising campaign La Proxima en Teulada-Moraira launched in

Madrid in June is reported to have had a positive effect on the number of visitors heading to the municipality from the capital, along with the efforts earlier this year after the municipality signed an agreement with airline company Iberia to appear in their magazine - read every month by two million people in more than 50 countries.

Describing tourism as the “economic engine” of the municipality, Linares says that the relevant bodies will work very hard to continue to invest in tourism and promote TeuladaMoraira, by innovating in new media with which to reach more members of the public.

by Rose Holmes AN eight-year-old boy was murdered and a pregnant woman tied up and beaten in Elda.

A concerned neighbour heard a loud scream from the apartment where the boy lived.

She went to investigate and finding the front door half-open, decided to enter the property.

The neighbour was confronted by the boy’s half-naked body lying on the floor and the woman, who is eight months pregnant, beaten, bound and gagged.

The neighbour immediately called emergency services who, arriving at the scene, tried to resuscitate the child without success.

The woman was taken to Hospital General Universitario de Elda - Virgen de la Salud.

The boy lived with his legal guardian and his partner in the apartment in the centre of Elda.

According to early but unconfirmed reports, there are suspicions that the child could have been sexually abused and the 40year-old woman, who is deaf-mute, raped.

The investigation is focusing on two men wearing motorcycle helmets who met the woman and child on the landing.

As there were no signs of forced entry and nothing was missing from the apartment, investigators have ruled out robbery but many questions remain to be answered, police sources said.

Rescue one, get one free

Rescuers on board Salvamar Levante of Salvamento Maritimo saved two boat crews from Javea’s cabo de Sant Antoni waters on the same day.

The rescuers were en route to rescue 11 people whose boat had broken down when they came across two people clinging to a small sailboat that was slowly sinking.

The two people – who had lifejackets on - were happy to see the Salvamar Levante, climbing aboard as the rescuers towed the larger boat and its crew back to the shore.

FIVE-STAR hotel Asia Gardens was ordered by Benidorm City Council to stop the unlicensed works it was carrying out, encroaching on land attached to Terra Mitica theme park.

Municipal engineers visited the site and confirmed to the council that the hotel was carrying out “works or land uses consisting of levelling and filling in a plot" and lacked the necessary licence to do so.

Councillor of Town Planning Lourdes Caselles called for the “immediate suspension of these acts, with the cessation of all work or activity” and has given the hotel two months to request the required licence.

Should the hotel not request the required licence, it automatically agrees to “the demolition of works at the expense of the person concerned” and the same will happen if the license is denied.

Man smashes police car window

by Tahnee Wright A MAN who was arrested for threatening behaviour in Calpe broke the back window of the police car he was taken away in.

The man was initially warned by police officers in the early hours of the morning after they came across him threatening members of the public.

Undeterred by the police

presence and instead further incensed, the man proceeded to a nearby bottle bin and took a bottle, threatening to attack the members of the public and the police officers with it should they come near him.

The police officers took action and used pepper spray to deter the man, putting him in handcuffs and into the police car.

continued to act aggressively, banging his head and feet on the screen separating him and the officers and finally breaking the car’s back window.

He was rushed to the health centre where he was tranquilised before being taken to the Guardia Civil station in Calpe.

Despite the aggression shown by the man, none of the police officers nor staff at the health centre were hurt.

IN PIECES: The man smashed the window with his feet

Part of the CV-755 that connects Callosa d'En Sarrià with the Castell de Guadalest has been damaged in the recent storms.

Several landslides affected the road, with fallen rubble blocking access and forcing traffic diversions.

Although the rubble has since been cleared, the Guardia Civil has urged drivers to circulate the road with caution.

Just law week, a landslide forced the evacuation of a village in the Swiss Alps.

The landslide last Wednesday morning sent an estimated four million cubic metres of mud, rocks and dirt flooding into the village of Bondo near the Italian border. About 100 people were evacuated, some airlifted out with helicopters.

Images taken after the landslide showed a broad swath of farmland covered in a grey, moving mass, with mud partially engulfing some buildings.

Swiss Police said 12 farm buildings, including barns and stables, had been destroyed by the flow of debris.

Fake ID crackdown A 39-YEAR-OLD Latvian man was arrested in Benidorm accused of carrying false documentation and crimes against road safety.

The man was stopped by the Policia Local whilst trying to access the Levante promenade, which was closed to vehicles.

He was asked to provide documentation for the vehicle he was driving along with his personal identification.

The officer who stopped the man called his colleague for assistance as

he did not believe the driving license that the man had provided was real.

The second officer arriving at the scene confirmed the driving license was “entirely false” and they proceeded to arrest the man.

He was placed at the disposal of the National Police, who will take steps to verify his identity and bring him to justice.

The Policia Local have organised a training day related to the control of citizens carrying false documentation.

Hiker dies of heart attack A 57-YEAR-OLD British hiker died after suffering a heart attack on the Barranc de l’Infern.

The man was out running with his daughter and started to feel unwell as they climbed up to Fleix.

The hiker – who had a history of heart problems – went into cardiorespiratory arrest as his daughter called the emergency services.

A helicopter was dispatched and the pair were located quickly.

Firefighters settled the hiker and flew him to Orba, where he was to be met by an ambulance and taken to hospital.

Before the ambulance arrived at the scene, he went into cardiorespiratory arrest again and passed away.

by Tahnee Wright The woman and her eight-month-old daughter who fell 50 metres whilst visiting Denia castle remained hospitalised, health officials confirmed this week.

The incident occurred last Saturday just before midday as the Romanian woman - who was visiting the castle

with her husband – fell over a metrehigh wall with her baby in her arms.

The mother and baby fell onto the metal meshing which contains the rocks below. Police sources say the accident could have been fatal were the metal meshing not in place.

The mother is seriously ill and being cared for at Hospital de Denia-Marina-

RIP Harris

Harris Sportes, the French founder of much loved club Hacienda Javea passed away earlier this week.

Sportes, aged-75 and known amongst friends, family and club-goers alike as ‘Aris’ died of a terminal illness on Monday.

The club wrote on its Facebook page: “Today is a very sad day for the Hacienda family... The great Harris has left us. RESPECTED BY ALL, WANTED BY MANY” Information about his funeral arrangements were shared along with “Thank you, thank you and thank you.

Always grateful D.E.P” Hacienda Javea, located on the Montgo, played an important part in the hippie movement of the Valencian Community and was considered one of the starting points of the movement in Spain.

Salud whilst the baby is in critical condition at Hospital La Fe de Valencia.

Initially, the Spanish press reported the police to suspect a third person involved in the case but police sources have since ruled that out and instead are questioning whether the mother had suicidal intentions.

The investigation continues.

26-YEAR-OLD Andres Contreras - one of the two surviving cyclists of the accident that occurred on the N-332 in May - was backstage at the La Vuelta checkpoint in Benitachell last Sunday.

Andres’ father - Luis Alberto Contreras (53-years old) - was killed in the accident along with his friends Eduardo Monfort Gasent (28-years-old), and Jose Antonio Albi (28-years-old).

Benitachell Town Council arranged passes for Andres and his mother and the cyclist was delighted to meet Spanish champion Alberto Contador who wished him a speedy recovery.

Andres said he hopes his father, “wherever he is” shared with him and his mother the “magnificent day of cycling”.

Andres is still recovering at the Hospital Vithas Nisa Aguas Vivas in Carcaixent, Valencia.

Second apartment block evacuated RESIDENTS from the Grupo Catala building on Avenida Marquesat/ calle Elx in Denia were evacuated from the building as it was in “danger of collapsing”.

This is the second building to be evacuated in the town in as many weeks – just two weeks ago firefighters and the Policia Local ordered the evacuation of the Suertes del Mar apartment block on the same grounds.

The Grupo Catala building was built in the 1960s and houses ten apartments.

When residents met the Councillor of Town Planning Maria Josep Ripoll,

they were told that works that were scheduled to take place this week had been delayed until next Tuesday.

Residents are struggling to find alternative accommodation in the high summer season and one resident told the Spanish press he is having to sleep in his car.

"The mayor says that he has evacuated the building because he cares about our security, but he does not care about us sleeping in the street," another resident said, dismayed that that Town Hall have not done more to provide residents with temporary accommodation.

7 municipalities ‘at risk’ without flood plan

by Fabio Delucci Ten of the 33 municipalities on the Marina Alta are categorised by the Generalitat Valenciana as ‘at risk of flooding’ and are therefore obliged to have a Municipal Action Plan (MAP). However, of these ten only three have a MAP in place. El Verger, Javea and Ondara have their MAPs in place.

Calpe, Denia, Els Poblets, Jalon, Pedreguer, Teulada and the Vall de Gallinera are yet to commit to a MAP although Calpe and Pedreguer are at lower risk.

This Tuesday, the Director General of the Emergency Response and Security Agency Jose Maria Angel urged the seven remain-

ing municipalities to draft their MAPs as soon as possible and stressed the important of the document "with the aim of preventing and adopting appropriate measures of citizen protection."

In total, there are 136 municipalities in the Valencian Community that are categorised as at risk, 48 of them at high risk.

Of these 48 at high risk, only 22 have a MAP in place.

The Director General went on to remind all municipalities that have not drafted their MAPs that they have at their disposal "all technical support from the Emergency Response and Security Agency.”

Missing eight-year-old girl found unharmed AN eight-year-old British girl who disappeared in Albir was found unharmed the following morning.

She vanished while she was having dinner late at night with her mother and brother.

An hour later at 2.30am, the mother was unable to find

the girl and called emergency services.

Four patrols scoured the area for five hours without success.

Officers finally located her at 8.00am in the restaurant next door to where the family had been eating.Guardia Civil

sources said that the girl probably fallen asleep and remained there unseen when the restaurant had closed for night.

On waking, she put the television on and it was this that drew the officers’ attention as they went past the closed restaurant.

‘Crueltyfree’ bull-run ends in tragedy

A SPANISH village's attempt to invent a ‘cruelty-free’ version of bull-running by replacing the animals with giant balls has ended in tragedy after two people were seriously injured.

One man was left in a coma after sustaining a serious head injury when he was crushed against metal barriers by the 300-kilogramme resin ball which

chased runners around the town of Mataelpino, near Madrid during the event over the weekend.

He is reported to have suffered a fractured skull and placed in an induced coma by doctors fighting to save his life.

Another man suffered three broken ribs and concussion but has since been released from hospital.

Film festival returns

THE RIURAU Film Festival will take place again this year from September 15 – 23 in Jesus Pobre, Denia and Javea.

The festival was born in 2012 to offer short-filmmakers worldwide a platform to broadcast their work and Javea’s Councillor of Culture Quico Moragues confirmed that over 380 entries have been received this year, both nationally as well as internationally from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, France, Italy, Mexico and Qatar.

Organisers presenting the event earlier this week said they have seen a considerable increase in the quality of the national entries, showing the Spanish film industry to be recovering and making it even harder to select finalists.

A POTENTIAL TEAM: Councillors with Club de Golf Ifach Manager Juan Moragues

by Tahnee Wright Councillors from from Benissa, Calpe and Teulada-Moraira met this week to present the first edition of the ‘LA MARINA DE IFACH’ golf tournament that will take place next month.

The idea for the tournament was born as the municipalities sought to work together to promote a local activity. Its name was chosen as all the

municipalities are based on the Marina Alta with a view of Calpe’s legendary Penon de Ifach.

The golf tournament will take place at Club de Golf Ifach, located in Benissa but with clientele from across all the municipalities.

Club de Golf Ifach wants to promote the sport to people of all ages and has signed contracts with local schools to teach young children.

The tournament will take place on Sunday September 10 and participants will be divided male and female.

Registration is open until Wednesday September 6 at 8.00pm and can be done by email - info@golfifach.com or by phone – 966 497 114.

Registration costs €26 for guests and €15 for members and depending on the number of participants, there will be one or two tee-offs.

by Tahnee Wright A VAN load of goods was delivered to The Franciscan Shelter for Men at Palma de Gandia recently by HELP of Denia and Marina Alta.

The shelter provides a home and nursing care for around 65 homeless men, many of whom suffer from mental or physical illness, some of whom are terminally ill.

These men would otherwise be on the streets and unlikely to survive without this special care.

Admission is solely on the basis of need and all nationalities and religions are accepted.

The hospice is funded entirely by chari-

table donations, with no state aid or official grants.

HELP of Denia and Marina Alta has been supporting the shelter for many years now, providing clothing, food, medicine and medical equipment and toiletries.

The Franciscans need money and donations on a regular basis to continue their work in the hospice. At this time of year, the men are particularly in need of toiletries.

If you would like to make a donation, drop offs can be made at the HELP office in La Xara, the HELP desk at Hospital de Denia-MarinaSalud or the HELP charity shop in Moraira.

Trapped dog rescued

FIREFIGHTERS from Denia rescued a dog that became trapped underneath its owner’s caravan at their farm in Vall de Laguart.

The Pyrenean Mastiff spent all last Friday night underneath the caravan and was unable to move.

Its owners, of German nationality and around 80-years-old had tried all night to rescue the dog and finally called the emergency services in the morning. The rescue operation took around 40 minutes as the firefighters moved the caravan, which was static on granite blocks.

The dog was a little stressed but soon recovered.

by Fabio Delucci A Marina Alta hiker will travel to Ecuador to map and establish four hiking routes to help the country boost its tourism offering.

Miguel Angel Soliveres, from Benissa, will volunteer for 22 days in the Canari Village together with La Fons Valencia per la Solidaritat (The Valencian Fund for Solidarity).

Solvieres is best-known as one of the founders of the prueba de La Perimetral – a series of mountain trail races that have become a benchmark in the Valencian Community – and is an expert in the field of hiking.

He has spent hours, days and weeks preparing for

the trip to Ecuador and has forgone his yearly holiday, recognising the trip as "a vital experience, an incredible opportunity for someone who loves hiking."

The Valencian Fund for Solidarity was created to contribute to the development of impoverished countries as well as to raise awareness among Valencian society, on a local level, of the problems faced in South America.

Loli Vicens - another resident of Benissa - travelled to the Canari Village with the Valencian Fund for Solidarity in 2013.

Vicens, who works in tourism at the Benissa Ayuntamiento, helped the village with its strategic tourism plan.

It’s off to Ecuador we go…

READY TO GO: Solvieres leaves for Ecuador on Monday

Back where I belong A TURTLE who was caught in trawler nets earlier this year has been released back into the wild in Javea waters.

The female turtle was caught in trawler nets in January and was taken in by vets from the Area of Recovery and Conservation of Marine Animals (ARCA del Mar) of

l’Oceanografic in Valencia. She is less than 30 years old and weights just under six kilograms.

Club Nautico de Javea arranged a naming ceremony for the turtle, who has been known as ‘number 297’ since she was rescued.

Children at the club penned names for the turtle and put them

into a hat. Young sailor Arantxa Reig chose a name at random – ‘Chiquiti’ suggested by Abril Sanchez.

After the naming ceremony, several boats from Club Nautico de Javea took to the water and Mayor Jose Chulvi released Chiquiti back into the wild just over a mile from the shore.

Charity art exhibition Anthony (Tony) Creasey was born in Wimbledon, London where he spent much of his early life. In 1972, he moved to the West Country.

As a youngster, he wanted to go to Art College but his father impressed him on the importance of a career, hence his dream of becoming an artist was replaced by the world of engineering.

In 2002, Tony and his wife Josie, both now retired, moved to Spain’s sunny Costa Blanca. They fell in love with the area and made their home overlooking the beautiful Orba Valley.

At last, Tony could pursue his passion for art and he enrolled on a drawing and watercolour course. However, this did not inspire him sufficiently so he took a step back to reconsider which aspect of art would appeal to him and give him the most pleasure.

In 2010, suffering from debilitating health issue, Tony decided to embark upon an art course in Javea under the tutelage of Marc Meyer. From then on, he has excelled in his interpretation and use of charcoal and acrylic.

The inspiration for Tony’s portfolio comes from his passion for tango, flamenco, jazz as well as life studies and portraits. He is

Todos Juntos work tirelessly to raise funds for less fortunate families in Javea and helped 40 families in 2016 alone.

Todos Juntos work in collaboration with Social Services, who are able to identify those families and individuals most in need - although in respect of dignity, the charity rarely get to know those they support.

The funds raised by Todos Juntos go towards paying utility bills or buying essentials for the children for school, especially lunches. The charity used to purchase school books for the children but the system has since changed and they are now provided by the state.

The exhibition will be open from 10.00am – 7.00pm on Saturday September 9 and from 10.00am – 5.00pm on Sunday September 10.

by Rose Holmes Half a million people marched in Barcelona in a show of unity under the slogan no tinc por (I am not afraid) after Catalonia’s recent terror attacks.

The march last Saturday was led by shopkeepers and residents of the city’s Las Ramblas boulevard, where a van ploughed into pedestrians on August 17, killing 13 people and injuring over 100.

The crowd applauded emergency services representatives who also led the march, along with taxi drivers who helped evacuate people at

the time of the attacks.

Spain’s King Felipe, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and the head of Catalonia’s regional government Carles Puigdemont walked amongst the throng as people cheered and bore red, yellow and white roses — the colours of the nation’s second-biggest city.

“We are here to say we’re not afraid, we are united and we want peace,” a pensioner said as she marched. Slogans carried by marchers read “No to Islamophobia” and “The best answer: peace”.

Twitter users responded to an Islamic State video by turning the young Spanish-speaking jihadist into a meme that was among the social-media site's most popular ‘trending topics’.

In one, the bearded jihadist becomes a YouTube blogger asking for viewers to like - and subscribe to - his channel.

In another, he raps along to a reggaeton track dubbed the "official Dáesh remix."

"When you see me, I know you're trembling," the fighter raps in a version of Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny's hit Tu No Metes Cabra (You Don't Scare Me).

In the original video, the fighter said the Islamic State would avenge

British antique thief arrested in Spain A BRITISH man has been arrested in Spain on suspicion of stealing a collection of ancient Roman artefacts from Italy.

The 55-year-old man was arrested in a hotel in Los Palacios y Villafranca, south of Seville, after police conducted a routine security check on guests.

His name came up on a database and showed that an Italian court had issued a warrant for his arrest.

He was in possession of “very valuable collector’s items” for which he was unable to show proof of ownership, a spokeswoman for the Spanish police said.

They included 90 packets of Roman and Arab coins, six clay lamps and a ceramic image of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus. In total, there were around 140 valuable antiques.

Spanish police said their investigation was still ongoing because “the suspect may have accomplices or colleagues helping him in the antiques trade”.

by Fabio Delucci After spending almost a month in hiding, Juana Rivas handed her children over to the authorities earlier this week but may still face prison.

The Public Prosecutor has asked for prison without bail for ignoring a court summons despite a previous judge allowing Ms Rivas to walk free.

After being told by the Granada court that any decision concerning custody of her children must be made by the Italian authorities, Juana Rivas accepted and voluntarily surrendered her two children to the Guardia Civil on Monday morning.

They were collected by their Italian

father, Francesco Arcuri, later that day.

The couple met in 2004 in London where 23-year-old Ms Rivas was learning English and Mr Arcuri, who was 38, was managing a restaurant.

They had two children and later settled in Sardinia but Ms Rivas returned to Spain in May last year - taking the children without her husband’s consent, claiming he had attacked her mentally and physically and also abused their eldest son.

Ms Rivas has described herself as being trapped in the Italian countryside, living in fear of an abusive partner. But Mr Arcuri, who claims his ex-partner was constantly out partying in San Pietro and leaving him to attend to

Scottish teen 'gang-raped' on Magaluf beach POLICE in Mallorca are looking for three men after a 19-year-old Scottish female claimed she was gang-raped on a beach in Magaluf.

Though police have been given a photo of one of the

men who allegedly attacked the teen, a spokesman for the Guardia Civil confirmed that they were yet to make any arrests earlier this week.

alysed for clues and DNA. A source told the English press that there is a photo of one of the alleged offenders, thought to have been on the victim’s mobile phone.

They said: "She has a photo of one of the men she said had raped her and assured officers she could identify him."

The nationalities of the offenders have not been revealed, though they are thought to be British.

It is also not known whether the young woman was on holiday or living and working in the area.

112-year-old Spanish man claims ‘World’s Oldest Man’ title 112 YEARS and eight months of age, boasting four children, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, Francisco Nunez Olivera from the village of Bienvenida in Western Spain is laying claim to the title of the world’s oldest man.

Born on December 13, 1904, Olivera told the Spanish press he reckons “good genes, hard work, a varied diet of homegrown vegetables and a daily glass of red wine” are the key ingredients to a long life.

He has managed to maintain this routine despite losing his teeth four decades ago.

“Until the age of 107 he used to walk the streets by himself. Whenever he got tired, he would rest in the corner, chatting away to people. He loves chatting,” his sister, Maria Antonia, 81, told the Spanish press.

A widower since 1988, Olivera also claims he has never broken a bone, despite fighting in the Rif War in North Africa (1920-1926) and the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), affording him the title of Spain’s oldest veteran.

SMILE FOR THE CAMERA: Olivera lost his teeth four decades ago The Guinness Book of World Records has yet to officially recognise Olivera as the world’s oldest man because the originals of his birth certificate and other documentation from his local church and school were burnt in a fire during the civil war.

However, El Mundo claims to have found copies of a wedding certificate which corroborate Olivera’s story.

The previous titleholder of the

world’s oldest living man was Auschwitz survivor Yisrael Kristal, who passed away a month before his 114th birthday on August 11.

There are over 17,000 people in Spain above the age of 100, 16 of whom are 110 years of age or over.

The officially recognised oldest living woman in the world is Jamaica’s Violet Brown, who was born on March 10, 1900.

Pension cold calling banned

The UK government has confirmed new measures to protect private pension savers from the threat of unscrupulous pension scammers.

The measures will include a ban on cold calling in relation to pensions, including emails and text messages and a tightening of HMRC rules to stop scammers opening fraudulent pension

schemes.

The cold calling ban will be enforced by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and will also see tougher actions to help prevent the transfer of money from occupational pension schemes into fraudulent ones.

The government is also tackling scammers by ensuring that only active

companies, which produce regular, upto-date accounts, can register pension schemes. Limiting transfers of pension pots from one occupational scheme to another will mean trustees must check their receiving scheme is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, or has an active employment link with the individual, or is an authorised master trust.

The announcement comes as new figures released show almost £5 million was obtained by pension scammers in the first five months of 2017. It is estimated that £43 million has also been unlawfully obtained by scammers since April 2014, with those targeted having lost an average of nearly £15,000, as scammers try to encourage savers to part with their money with false promises of low-risk, high-return investment opportunities.

Minister for Pensions and Financial Inclusion Guy Opperman said: “These figures highlight the extent to which people’s savings are being targeted and stolen through elaborate hoaxes – leaving them with little opportunity to build up their savings again. That is why we are introducing tough new measures for those who scam.

“If people have saved for a private pension, we want to protect them.

This is the biggest lifesaving that individuals normally make over many years of hard work. By tackling these scammers, people should know that cold calling, apart from exceptional circumstances, is banned.”

Giant omelette cooked amidst egg scare

A BELGIAN town honoured its 22-year-old tradition of making a giant omelette amidst an egg contamination scare, cooking 10,000 eggs in a pan four metres wide.

Millions of chicken eggs have been pulled from European supermarket shelves as a result of the scare over the use of the insecticide fipronil, which is forbidden in the food chain and can cause organ damage in humans.

Hundreds of people gathered in the eastern Belgian city of Malmedy undeterred by the scare and the president of the local branch of the giant omelette fraternity, BenedicteMathy, said she was confident the dish was safe to eat.

Under a timid Belgian sun and with music playing they tucked into the giant omelette cooked over an open fire by ‘The World Fraternity of Knights of the Giant Omelette’, which was created in 1973.

RINGSIDE TICKETS to the Mayweather v McGregor fight went for up to $138,000 (€115,000) but a British bartender managed to upgrade his seat for free.

Oliver Regis bought a ticket to last weekend’s super fight between unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather and UFC star Conor McGregor in Las Vegas. But when he got there, he wasn’t happy with his seat and decided to take matters into his own hands. Posing as a member of Mayweather’s team, Regis managed to get through security and land himself a seat in the third row where he rubbed shoulders with celebrities such as Demi Lovato, Jaime Foxx and Mike Tyson. “I did feel a bit cheeky but this was a once in a lifetime chance,” Regis said. “I could not believe it worked.”

The fight earned Mayweather more money than any fighter before him - he battered McGregor, finally stopping him at 1.05 of the 10th round.

The closure of the monastery was announced in June by Benissa Town Council – the four friars can no longer maintain the building due to its size and their age.

It was one of those days when you could sense the spring in your step and the feeling that: ‘Hey, it’s not such a bad old life after all.’

The sun was shining as usual, and there was a cooling breeze that was just enough to make our morning walk along the canal perfect.

A cyclist came hurtling towards us; a man of about my age, so no age at all really, clad in a spectacular outfit.

Hat, shorts, shirt and even socks were a kaleidoscope of colour. He looked as if he had been decorated with Quality Street wrappers all stitched together by Stevie Wonder.

As he got near, he waved at us in an enthusiastic way which had the effect of him partially losing control and bumping off into the overgrown area to one side.

But with the big smile still on his face, he hopped back on, chortled ’Ooops’ and pedalled off like a streak of psychedelic lightning.

The pair of ducks that sometimes patrolled that section of canal – Romeo and Juliet we christened them – had not been seen for some time, but there was Juliet with six fairly large, healthy looking ducklets.

She and Romeo it seemed, had consummated the partnership and found a safe haven away from the dark intentions of any cleaver brandishing Chinese chef looking to in-

crease profits.

The luxuriant weed growth providing food for the carp, swayed seductively in the current and it’s a pity that the periodic dredging destroys this stuff, driving the fish away.

But it’s only temporary and here they are again, not that big by normal carp standards, but up to a kilo or two in weight if I’m any judge.

Yet more temptation for unscrupulous restaurateurs, fed up with the escalating price of merluza.

We exchanged pleasantries with other walkers and

cyclists along the way, but there’s always one exception.

An athletic looking lady with muscles on her teeth and blond hair tied back resembling a plaited loaf, approached. Pumping two ski poles and staring purposefully ahead, she was a formidable sight.

With a glare that would have frozen lava and looking as if she wanted to singe off our hair before skewering us on her poles and spit roasting us, she charged on.

And all we had said was: ‘Hi, lovely morning’.

All in all though, one of those days when everything seemed right with the world.

The southern coast of Spain is a country within a country. Like London or New York, it exists alone, a law unto itself. It has its own rules and rhythm and its own way of doing things.

On the morning of our story the coast awoke in a tepid daze, the Mediterranean flat as a dusty mirror, banks of low cloud drifting in over the chiringuitos and dampening the canopies of the hillside allotments.

Down on the beaches the hammock-vendors sprayed the sand in the hope of one more hot day: they´d been enjoying an Indian summer. In Malaga, cars formed rushhours queues into the city while joggers stretched their calves on the low sea wall in Estepona. Shutters clattered up on the Nerja cafés. Benidorm doorsteps were swept and mopped.

Smoking, sunburnt fishermen winched their nets up in La Caleta, gulls hovering yet still, hungry black eyes staring.

High above the Malaga Mountains a twin-engine Cessna left a vectoring, everdiffusing trail of ice particles in its wake. A door was open on its glinting, sunlit, sea-ward side and a figure in black appeared, leaping suddenly out, spreadeagled, away from the plane.

In Colmares, an elderly Brit who´d been up since five with gout pains, called out to a passing neighbour, an even older Spaniard, coming back from a walk.

They put their hands to their brows and watched as a parachute opened and the bulky, twitching figure rocked from side to side until it meshed with the dark peaks.

It is a myth that the Victorians were prudish. Their age was exciting, innovative and libertarian. For this reason, many great novels and poems, such as Rudyard Kipling verse, is now taboo.

Scratch the surface of the mob and one is sure to find the mediaeval mind-set. I would not dignify bigots by describing them as ignorant; they are politically corrupt. There is little that separates the selfstyled politically correct from sycophants who once applauded innocent men sentenced to death at Chairman Mao and Stalinist show trials.

In the Communist Bloc ordinary people were guarded in what they wrote or said. In constant fear of denunciation few were brave enough to speak openly. Those who did lost friends, their jobs, and in most case their freedom.

This is the slippery slope we slide down. A remark made without malice draws horrified reaction similar to the display of a birthmark on the breast of a yeoman’s wife.

Attending a business meeting I said something which included the term ‘coloured’. The group looked at each other with horrified expressions. Baffled, I asked if I had said something wrong.

Someone broke the silence. “You don’t use the term coloured anymore.”

Defensively, I replied, “I have no objection to being described as white. The description was relevant to what I was saying; how else could I describe the person?”

I was told that I must never describe a person by their ethnicity even if asked by the police to offer a description of a person. I am reminded of Prometheus: “whom the gods would destroy they first make mad.”

In the United States monuments to historical figures are brought crashing to the ground. Throughout the EU street names are changed because those honoured are considered politically incorrect. Yet, the most outrageous haters are witch finder generals and the mob salivating at the prospect of a lost career.

Agreement Basic Spanish for everyday needs by

For the few weeks we have been looking at the concepts of masculine and feminine genders in the Spanish language. We saw that a noun is a word that represents a thing or an idea and than in Spanish each of these words has a gender which we need to know about to help us form correct Spanish sentences. The gender of the noun in a sentence affects many of the words around it.

We also looked at a few guidelines to help us determine what the gender of a particular noun is, but in many cases we just have to learn each one individually and gradually, knowing that if we make a few mistakes along the way it is not going to affect people’s understanding of what we say.

One of the things that is affected by the gender of a word is the accompanying word for “the” and “a”. We are lucky in English as these words have only one form. “The” in Spanish actually has five forms, but only four that concern us now. These four words depend on whether they apply to masculine or feminine nouns and also whether the nouns are in the singular or plural.

Let’s take a practical example – the

word for “child” or “boy” – niño, and the word for “girl” which is niña. This is how the “the” bit works: El niño - the boy; la niña - the girl; los niños - the boys; las niñas - the girls.

So we have four different words for “the” (masculine singular), la (feminine singular), los (masculine plural) and las (feminine plural).

Now we’ll look at the words meaning “a” or “an”. There are two of these: masculine singular un and feminine singular una. Logically we cannot have a plural of “a”. So that gives us for example “a boy” un niño and “a girl” una niña.

All of these forms apply to words for things as well. Let’s use two more examples of words for things rather than people.

Vestido (dress – masculine) El vestido (the dress); los vestidos (the dresses); un vestido (a dress).

Camisa (shirt – feminine).

La camisa (the shirt); las camisas (the shirts); una camisa (a shirt).

One of the indicators of word gender we have already mentioned is the characteristic “a” ending for feminine and “o” ending for masculine nouns. Niño, niña, vestido, camisa all follow this pattern. However as I mentioned, there are other words that don’t do this at all. For example:

Reloj (clock – masculine) El reloj (the clock); los relojes (the clocks); un reloj (a clock) Pared (wall – feminine) La pared (the wall); las paredes (the walls); una pared (a wall).

Notice in both these cases the words end in consonants (j and d). When this happens we make the word into plural by adding –es, rather than just –s.

Now to complete this picture let’s look again at a couple of words that have endings the opposite way round from what we expect, to see how they deal with this “agreement” business.

Here they come: Problema (problem – masculine) El problema (the problem); los problemas (the problems), un problema (a problem).

Mano (hand – feminine) La mano (the hand); las manos (the hands); una mano (a hand).

Most foreigners learning Spanish get these wrong to start with. The Spanish are quite used to people saying things like “tengo una problema” and this kind of mistake would never prevent someone from understanding that you had a problem!

Just to round this up and lead on to our main point for next lesson. There are other things that are affected by

the masculine/feminine divide as well as “the” and “a”. It also influences the adjectives, or describing words, that go with the nouns. Here is what I mean: the word from “small” is pequeño. It can be applied to all the above nouns.

We can talk about a small boy, girl, shirt, dress, clock, wall, problem or hand. Here are some examples of how we would do this, by making the word pequeño match the noun each time.

El niño pequeño; la niña pequeña; los niños pequeños; las niñas pequeñas.

El vestido pequeño, los relojes pequeños, la camisa pequeña, las paredes pequeñas.

Un problema pequeño, una mano pequeña.

A surprise hot air balloon trip is Jessie’s birthday gift to her beloved Isabel, her sister and a practicing nun. There are 13 people in the balloon, including the pilot, on this unluckiest of trips where a killer is observed in the act of committing murder. Unfortunately, he also sees them, particularly Jessie assiduously taking photographs of him on her phone. Everyone ends up dead except Jessie, something the killer intends to rectify as he hunts her down. Unable to go to the police, there is more to Jessie than we might expect as she fights to stay alive against all the odds.

The remarkably well informed killer is an adept and skilled hunter, who it turns out has his own family trauma. Detective Superintendent Ajax Maldonado of Northumbria police is in charge of investigating the Hot Air Balloon tragedy and when it becomes clear that Jessie is alive, tries to locate her to discover what occurred. With a rising body count, disturbing fears of a yellow house in the north amongst migrants, and the connections between the multiple threads becoming clearer, there is a thrilling and tense finale.

This is a story of ghosts, trauma, obsession, unreliable memories and what families will do for each other. It outlines the horrors waiting to befall migrants and how a family history can come to be distorted.

It is about the difficulties of coming to terms with loss and grief.

The NIE number (Número de identificación de Extranjeros), is the abbreviation given for the Identification Number for Foreigners.

The Spanish law requires foreigners to obtain an identification number for several different transactions in Spain, such as purchasing or selling a property, having a mortgage, buying a car or motorcycle, pay taxes in Spain, etc.

10 who-knew uses for aluminum foil We already know that aluminium foil is a kitchen musthave, but its metallic, pliable structure makes it super-useful all over the house. Here's why you should stock up:

Line cabinets and drawers Not only is the foil easy to clean with a damp sponge, but it will help reflect light in a cabinet's dark corners.

Protect pie crust Worried about burning your famous apple pie?

Cover the edges with a ring cut out of aluminum foil to keep the crust from getting too brown.

Make a funnel

In a pinch, create a makeshift funnel (which you can even bend to fit in tight spaces) out of a piece of foil fashioned into a cone.

Move heavy furniture

Polish silverware

With this nifty trick, a chemical reaction causes tarnish to transfer from your silver flatware to the aluminium foil. Line a plastic bin with the foil (shiny side up), and place the silver pieces inside. Pour in a 1/4 cup washing soda, and a gallon of boiling water. Stir and let soak for 10 to 15 minutes.

Clean the grill A ball of foil makes quick work of de-gunking a grill of any burnton barbecue leftovers.

Wrap the feet of your sofa in a few layers of heavy duty foil to help scoot it across carpet (but avoid using this trick on delicate surfaces or furniture that the foil could scratch).

Soften hard sugar When a recipe calls for a tablespoon of brown sugar but you'd need a chisel to carve it out, a little heat can help. Wrap the sugar in a piece of aluminum foil and toss it in a 350-degree oven for five minutes.

Scrub dishes

Like wire wool, a ball of aluminum foil can help clean cookware you can give a good scrub, like glass casserole dishes or cast-iron skillets.

Iron clothes faster Aluminum foil reflects heat, so try placing a sheet under your ironing board cover, to smooth wrinkles a bit quicker.

Scare away birds

Chances are you love seeing brightly coloured feathered friends around your garden, but if you have a fruit tree, you might not want birds feasting on your bounty. Like the reflective tape sold at garden centres, strips of aluminum foil hung in your tree can help keep them away.

There are three main ways lightning enters structures: a direct strike, through wires or pipes that extend outside the structure and through the ground. Once in a structure, lightning can travel through the electrical, phone, plumbing, and radio/ television reception systems. • Stay away from windows and doors that might have small leaks around the sides to let in lightning and stay off porches.

• Do not lie on concrete floors

or lean against concrete walls.

• Protect your pets: Dog houses are not safe shelters. Dogs that are chained to trees or on metal runners are particularly vulnerable to lightning strikes.

• Protect your home: Lightning generates electric surges that can damage electronic equipment some distance from the actual strike. Typical surge protectors will not protect equipment from a lightning strike. Do not unplug equipment during a thunderstorm as there is a risk you could be struck.

Why I am so proud of Pride

by Barry Duke I once bit a policeman’s leg. It was the only way I could break his grip on my long, auburn locks. This was at London’s third LGBT march in 1974. It was much more of an angry rally than a celebration.

We mobilised to declare it was not acceptable to intimidate and brutalise queers and that we were no longer prepared to take persecution lying down.

But lying down is precisely what we did. The authorities had agreed a march route with organisers but suddenly a large contingent of hostile plods decided to divert us down a side street.

We were having none of it and lay down in the road. And that’s when I was seized by the hair by one of a clot of constables who moved in to break up our demo.

Vivid memories of that rally came back to me when my diary flagged up the fact that Benidorm is to host its seventh Pride from September 4 – 9, and that RTN, to its credit, is partnering the event.

An enormous rush of satisfaction came over me when I recalled how liberating it was, in those early days, to stand up – nay, lie down – and chant “we shall not be moved!”

We were angry, and had a great deal to be angry about. In those days police harassment was endemic, and it was still fresh in many older protesters’ minds that Alan Turing, the gay codebreaker who played a pivotal role in enabling the Allies to defeat the Nazis in many crucial engagements, had been prosecuted for homosexuality in 1952.

Turing – regarded today as the father of modern computing who broke the Nazis’ WW2 Enigma code – accepted chemical castration rather than face prison, and died of cyanide poisoning in 1954 aged 41. An inquest found he’d committed suicide.

In 2009, following an Internet campaign then British Prime Minister Gordon Brown made an official public apology on behalf of the government for “the appalling way he was treated”. The Queen granted him a posthumous pardon in 2013.

Turing was one of thousand whose lives were blighted by a stupid and inhumane law, and, even after homosexuality was decriminalised in 1967, neofascist groups and religious hate-mongers like the ghastly Mary Whitehouse persisted with their gay-bashing – actual and verbal – well into the 1980s.

But then a sea-change occurred that saw LGBT rights in the UK improve with astonishing speed. This welcome progress culminated with the introduction of same-sex marriage in 2014.

The change in Spain was even more dramatic. The country rapidly became a world leader in gay rights after decades of Franco’s rule, which saw sexual minorities imprisoned or even killed. The legendary poet Garcia Lorca was one of those slain.

But when the Franco era mercifully ended in 1978 the country embraced liberalisation with a passion that left political and religious primitives reeling.

In 1979 Madrid’s staged its first Gay Pride march, and in 2005, Spain became one of the first countries in the world to legalise same-sex marriage. In 2007 it was hailed as having the most advanced LGBT rights on the planet.

In the same year, EuroPride was held in Madrid, and welcomed more than 2.5 million people over the course of one week. This year Madrid hosted World Pride, which attracted even greater numbers to the city.

I am immensely proud to have been in the vanguard of a movement that, back in the 70s, drew a line in the sand and said “enough is enough!”

But, as we blow whistles, wave rainbow flags and dance in the streets, let’s pause to consider the plight of those living in places where being gay remains a criminal offence – 74 countries in total. It’s an appalling fact that 12 of them have the death penalty for homosexuality.

Until they learn that LGBT rights are an integral part of human rights, these countries should be ostracised and denied the billions in foreign aid that they receive from the “decadent” West.

Giving4Giving held its fifth charity auction last week and raised €1,000 for Doggie Angells.

Doggie Angells is a non-profit organisation formed by a group of dog lovers. Volunteers rescue abandoned and stray dogs, dogs that have been cruelly treated and injured and neglected dogs.

The funds raised at the auction will go towards Doggie Angells’ vet bills.

The next Giving4Giving auction will be held on Friday September 15 – the charity is desperately in need of donations and invites all members of the public to attend the

auction, sell their goods and help local charities at the same time.

Giving4Giving has now raised over €83,000 for local charities and those who need it most - hosting numerous fund raising events whilst also running 3 charity shops one in La Nucia and two in Altea - along with a charity auction house in La Nucia.

Chocolate bar reaches its peak BUDGET retail chain Poundland is set to argue in the UK courts that Toblerone reduced the value of its trade mark when it redesigned its famous chocolate bar last year.

Poundland announced in June that it was releasing its own similarly mountain-inspired chocolate bar called Twin Peaks, but halted the product’s release following the receipt of a legal letter from Mondelez International, the makers of Toblerone.

At the time, the British chain did not deny the influence of Mondelez’ famous product – whose shape is protected by a registered UK 3D trade mark – but rather positioned it as a response to a redesign that had not been well received by the store’s customers.

The dispute between Poundland and Mondelez has now escalated to the High Court of Justice. In Poundland’s defence, the company argues that Toblerone’s trade mark has been “irretrievably abandoned” by its redesign, which

In its claim, Mondelez is arguing that Poundland has infringed its trade mark both through the shape of the bar and its packaging, which sees a gold, prism-shaped wrapper stamped with a mountain logo.

It says that Twin Peaks is “deceptively and confusingly similar” to Toblerone, while Poundland argues “no member of the relevant public would mistake one for the other”.

Unlike Toblerone, whose pyramidal shape is said to be inspired by the Alps’ iconic Matterhorn, Poundland’s chocolate bar has a double peak that the company claims is borrowed from Wrekin Hill in Shropshire.

Preparation: Preparation time and ready in 10 minutes.

Method: Blend olive oil, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, ginger, and salt together in a high-powered blender until smooth.

Green Pea and Mint Soup Ingredients 4 tablespoons butter, 4 green onions, chopped, 1 pound frozen or fresh green peas, 2 1/2 cups vegetable broth or stock, 3 tablespoons chopped fresh mint leaves,, 2 1/2 cups milk, salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste ,1 pinch white sugar (optional), 1/2 cup light whipping cream, 2 sprigs fresh mint leaves for garnish

Allow the soup to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.

3. Pour the soup into 4 serving bowls. Swirl 1 tablespoon of light cream into each one, then garnish with reserved peas and sprigs of mint.

Preparation Preparation – 5 minutes. Cooking time – 35 minutes.

Method 1. Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Add the 4 chopped green onions, and cook until softened, but not brown. Stir in the peas, vegetable stock, and 3 tablespoons of chopped fresh mint. Increase heat to medium, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat back to low, cover, and let simmer for about 30 minutes. If you are using frozen peas, 15 minutes is enough.

Ingredients 5 pounds boneless lamb shoulder, cut into 1 inch pieces, 6 tablespoons Dijon mustard, 4 tablespoons white wine vinegar, 4 tablespoons olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary, 1/2 teaspoon crumbled dried sage, 4 cloves garlic, chopped, 4 green bell peppers, cut into large chunks, 1 (10 ounce) package whole fresh mushrooms, 1 (16 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained with juice reserved, 1 pint cherry tomatoes, 4 onions, quartered, 1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, drained and juice reserved, 1/3 cup melted butter or margarine.

Preparation Preparation time – 20 minutes. Cooking time – 12 minutes.

Method 1. Place lamb in a large bowl.

2. In a separate bowl, stir together mustard, vinegar, olive oil, salt, pepper, rosemary, sage, and garlic. Pour over lamb, and mix to coat meat. Cover, and refrigerate overnight.

3. Preheat outdoor grill for direct heat.

4. Add marinated lamb, fruit, and vegetables to stainless steel or bamboo skewers. Reserve some of the juice from pineapple chunks and cherries.

5. In a small bowl, stir together melted butter and splashes of juice from the pineapples and cherries to create a basting sauce.

6. Place skewers on preheated grill, and cook about 12 minutes, turning and brushing with butter sauce.

FORMER VALENCIA footballer David Villa has been recalled to the Spanish national team for the next series of international fixtures.

At the age of 35, many players would be planning their retirement from the game but the popular Villa has been selected by manager Julen Lopetegui to be part of the Spain squad that is taking on Italy and Liechtenstein in the World Cup qualifiers that begin tomorrow (Saturday).

His last international appearance was three years ago during the disappointing World Cup match in Brazil when the then holders were embarrassingly beaten by footballing minnows Australia.

“They didn’t call me up three years ago...but I always dream of wearing the national team shirt again,” Villa admitted.

This latest selection could allow Villa to reach the coveted 100 caps for his country – he’s currently on 97 – and held the record for the most goals scored for Spain, with 59. He’s got some way to go the beat Iker Casillas who is the most capped player in the history of the national team, with a record of 167 matches.

It’s just not cricket

A LOCAL cricket team in Wales have been accused of tactics that are simply ‘not cricket’.

Carew CC were leading their league as they took on their own title challengers, Cresselly CC, in the final game of the season. Carew were 21 points ahead but there are a total of 30 points available for a win, made up of 20 for the victory and a possible maximum five batting and five bowling bonus points.

So, after winning the toss and electing to bat Carew declared their innings closed with their score on 18 for 1 to deny Cresselly the chance to get any bonus points. Although Carew’s tactics were within the rules, such a decision is

rare.

Cresselly went on to win the game, score 20 points, and end up a solitary point behind the champions.

The Pembroke County Cricket Club Division One side said: “We feel hard done by not being able to play a proper game. At the toss, our captain elected to field as we felt it was the best way of winning the game with such a tight margin.

“Thinking that Carew would want to beat us the right way and show everyone they are indeed the very best, their choice to declare and deliberately lose was at odds with their title of champions of the county.”

footballers in rental ‘fraud’ TWO YOUNG Spanish footballers have left a club in Northern Ireland after complaining about the state of their accommodation. Álex Gil and Toni Jiménez – both from Cordoba – were taken on by the Portuguese manager of Sofía Farmer FC and part of the deal was for them to be found somewhere to live.

What they were provided with was a house that initially had no electricity with broken beds and dirty mattresses, and for that pleasure they were charged the princely sum of €550 a month in rent. However, it wasn’t long before they found out that the club was allegedly renting the flat for only €363 and keeping the balance. This was only discovered after the Spanish

players accidentally found a copy of the contract when they were cleaning.

“It was clearly a fraud, and all that after having been dumped and left to our fate in a strange town from the moment we arrived,” complained Álex Gil. “But thanks to the hospitality of other Spaniards in the area, we didn’t have to sleep on the street.

“We spent 12 days trying to find the money to eat, and in the end we realised we’d been ‘had’ and went home to Spain.”

Sofía Farmer FC has so far not commented on the Córdoba players’ claims.
