Maximum Excellence THE regional government recognised Finestrat as a tourist municipality, as‐ signing it the Generalitat’s Maximum Excellence ranking. Only 11 of the Valen‐ cian Community’s 542 municipalities have achieved this classifica‐ tion, said Finestrat’s may‐ or Juanfran Perez Llorca. “The Generalitat modi‐ fied its regulations and we were one of the first mu‐ nicipalities to meet their terms, obtaining the Max‐ imum Excellence classifi‐ cation along with big cities like Malaga, Sevilla and Bilbao.” Perez Llorca added that the local government had invested in modernising the town, while creating one of the region’s finest shopping centres which was visited by an average four million people each year.
