Thief returns bicycle A THIEF returned a bicycle after the victim displayed a threatening poster stating: ‘We know who you are.’ The bike was discovered on Monday June 21 in the same location from which it was stolen hours earlier from a community garage in Velez-Malaga. What the alleged culprit did not anticipate was his neighbours recognising him. The owner of the bicycle decided to post a sign on the building doorway with a clear warning ‘Important. We know who you are; return it to the location from which you got it, and I will not report you to the police. They’ve seen you.’

Identity Theft Loan NATIONAL POLICE officers have arrested a 42‐year‐old woman, of Spanish nationality ‐ who has a previous po‐ lice record ‐ suspected of being the perpetrator of a crime of fraud, and identity theft, after using the identity and bank account details of a former work colleague, along with a falsified payroll slip, to obtain an online loan of €18,000. The scam came to light only after her victim received a call from a well‐known bank that specialises in online loans and credit cards, to say that she had defaulted on three instalments of an eight‐year loan in her name in September 2020, totalling €830. Fully aware that she had not taken out the loan in question, the victim asked for information, including the documentation that had been used to obtain it originally, and was told that payslips from the SAS had been pre‐ sented as proof of income, which is when she started to suspect her former workmate. Police investigators were quickly able to identify the suspect once the victim told them who her former col‐ league was, as she had a prior police record for a similar incident, and is an expert in digital marketing, and it soon became apparent that several payroll slips had been ma‐ nipulated, containing the victim’s name while she had never even worked for the health service. The Granada woman has been arrested and is now awaiting sentencing by a judge.

NEW LIFE: The three rescued ponies. THERE was a landmark victory for animal rights thanks to A R C H the Andalucian Rescue Centre for Horses charity. In January 2019 A R C H were called by Guardia Civil animal welfare branch Seprona, along with ‘El Refugio de Burrito’ and ‘Caballos Luna’, to assist in the rescue of a number of horses, donkeys and mules from a horse dealer in a small town north of Malaga. Over two years later, the case finally came to court in Malaga, and justice has

caught up with the former owner. Thanks to the tenacity of ARCH’s animal rights lawyer Aritz Toribio and a caring judge, who was well informed on the new animal rights legislation, he has now been prohibited from keeping, or having anything to do with animals for eight years. In addition, he has to pay the charities involved their costs over two and a half years, with a heavy jail sentence if he defaults. ARCH took in three small ponies from the rescue

which had not been there long, and their condition was not giving cause for alarm. The trio, who were given the names Dinky, Dusty and Gucci spent several months at the Centre until permission was given to allow them to go into foster homes. To learn more about A R C H and the horses and donkeys they have rescued, follow the charity on their Facebook page - Centro Andalusi de Rescate de Caballos - or go to their website www.horserescuespain.org.

ONLINE LOAN: Police quickly identified the suspect.
