THE Spanish President Pedro Sánchez has expressed his belief that “soon we are going to abandon face masks’ when we are outdoors and that “cruising speed” has been hit with the ongoing vaccination programme in Spain. In only a matter of days Spain will see a staggering 15 million people having been vaccinated. In the last week alone a record 3.5 million doses of the vaccine have been given. Speaking of the Spanish goal of hitting 70 per cent of the population vaccinated by summer, Sánchez high‐ lighted that: “In a few weeks 50 per cent of the popula‐ tion will have at least one dose and the roadmap is clear and is being fulfilled.”
NEWLY WEDS: Debbie officiates at another special ceremony. LOCAL wedding celebrant Debbie Skyrme of La Herradu‐ ra beat finalists from Greece and Italy to win the ‘Best Euro‐ pean Celebrant Award 2021’ in the Global Celebrant Indus‐ try Awards. Former UK registrar Debbie had her talents as an indepen‐ dent wedding celebrant in An‐ dalucia recognised by winning two categories in the Awards. In addition to her European achievement, Debbie also walked off with the accolade of ‘Most Unique Ceremony in Spain’ for her work in creating bespoke ceremonies incorpo‐ rating rituals and cultural ele‐ ments reflecting the personali‐ ties of her wedding couples.
Officiating at around 40 cer‐ emonies every year in south‐ ern Spain, 57‐year‐old Debbie is excited to celebrate her re‐ cent achievement. “To be even nominated in the Global Celebrant Industry Awards is a huge privilege,” Debbie said. “I am so passionate about raising the profile of Andalucia as a destination wedding loca‐ tion and these awards are a true reflection of the amazing wedding community we have here in southern Spain and the beautiful symbolic wedding ceremonies that we offer,” she added. Debbie went on to explain, “There are many couples in
Spain and overseas who have contracted their legal mar‐ riage during the pandemic, but have been deprived of an ac‐ tual wedding ceremony due to restrictions. Now is their time! “I believe that as soon as newly married couples can safely travel, they will be look‐ ing to combine a holiday in the Spanish sunshine with a cere‐ monial celebration of their love. And the Spanish wed‐ ding industry is ready to wel‐ come them and make their dream ceremonies come true!” To learn more about desti‐ nation weddings and symbolic ceremonies in Spain visit www.celebrantspain.es.
