Cleaning Plan THE Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall has initiated a new Cleaning Plan that will enable street sweeping on public roads and housing estates to cover additional areas of the municipality, according to Borja Ortiz, the area’s councilman (PP). This cleaning programme, which is being implemented by the Empresa Mixta de Medio Ambiente de Rincón de la Victoria (EMMSA), began with full days of street sweeping, as well as reinforcing the work of clearing debris from pavements, kerbs, and tree encloses in urbanisations in the afternoons from Monday to Sunday. Francisco Salado (PP), mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, noted that “all these reinforcement works in the municipality are crucial to achieving a proper cleaning and disinfection service. As a government team, our first aim is to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens and visitors, allowing them to enjoy a clean and safe municipality with a unique tourism image.”
INAUGURATION: Celebrating the establishment of easyJet’s new Malaga base. T H E inauguration of the easyJet Malaga base, the company’s third base in Spain after Barcelona and Palma is good news for tourism in the Costa del Sol and Axarquia. Although the base started operation on June 1, it was formally confirmed by the Diputación de Malaga on Tuesday June 8 and inaugurated with the traditional arrival of an easyJet Malaga liveried aircraft and ribbon cutting by representatives of the airline and the authorities of the region. Following this was a round table discussion entitled ‘Reinventing
tourism’ attended by the president of Costa del Sol Tourism, Francisco Salado, and many local representatives. T he president of C osta del Sol Tourism said “today we celebrate a historic day in which easyJet’s commitment to our destination is manifested.” B ut little of that would be possible, according to Salado “without the firstrate equipment with which we find ourselves. Without an international airport like Malaga, with direct connection to 113 cities and 32 countries, M alaga would not be set up as the great place to invest, work
and live.” He further observed that “connectivity is essential. Because Malaga and the province have become one more neighbourhood of many European capitals and are two or two and a half hours away by air from them. And if you give a B riton, a S wede or a G erman a choice of where they want to live and work, many will choose the Costa del Sol.” The number of airline seats to the Malaga destination for journeys from June to September is close to 3.5 million, which represents a growth of 1.7 million seats over 2020.

Captured For Bitcoin Scam ALLEGED Bitcoin fraudster, Javier Biosca, who had an arrest warrant from the National Court has been arrested in Torrox. Biosca is said to have defrauded hundreds of people and is charged with money laundering and being a member of a criminal organisation. It was first thought that around 300 people had been vic‐ tims of the fraud, however, the number has increased this week as explained by the lawyer who is handling one of the complaints, Juan Carlos Gómez León from Gran Vía Advo‐ cates. The lawyer said that Biosca presented himself as a broker of a sophisticated information system for investments in cryp‐ tocurrency that entailed ‘many purchases per second’. Biosca guaranteed returns of 20 per cent per week in investments, which was then later lowered to 10 per cent. According to the lawyer, who is representing around 20 of the victims, the estimated loss is around €3 million, however, he claims that there are “hundreds of injured” and some peo‐ ple have invested up to €1 million. Gómez de León explained: “Profitability was so important that in a few months the amount invested multiplied exponentially.” The representative of the victims explained that Biosca of‐ fered investors “to recover the amount or reinvest it,” high‐ lighting that “it capitalised 100 per cent of the accrued inter‐ est.” “That capital was already owned by the investor. The in‐ vestments that they had generated in a year had exponential interests,” he added.
