POSITIVE FEELINGS: The successful Balearic team at FITUR. THE Balearic Government had some considerable success at the recent FITUR Internation‐ al Tourism Fair which closed in Madrid on Sunday May 23. Whilst the whole point of attendance is to have meet‐ ings with airlines, hotels and tour operators, there is also an element of rivalry with other Autonomous Communi‐ ties and exhibitors. According to Minister of Tourism Iago Negueruela, participation was very worth‐ while and left him with “very positive feelings” for the fu‐ ture of Balearic tourism. To add to this, the Balearic stand won two awards; Best in the fair in the category of institutions and autonomous communities and most sus‐

tainable stand and a certifi‐ cate to this effect was pre‐ sented to Director General of Tourism, Rosana Morillo and her team. All stands were evaluated according to the criteria of professionalism (adaptation of the stand to the marketing needs of each product); Com‐ munication / Promotion (identification of the stand with the image and the prod‐ uct) and Design (assessment of the degree of originality and innovation). This was considered a safe stand because it had every‐ thing needed to carry out the activity of the fair with total security: with a single en‐ trance access, signs that marked the routes, capacity

control systems, air purifiers in meeting rooms, as well as other anti‐Covid measures such as ice dispensers and separation screens. It was also a sustainable stand, accessible to people with hearing and / or visual disabilities, in which different measures were introduced to reduce the environmental im‐ pact during the design, trans‐ port and construction of the stand as well as during the development of the fair. As a hybrid stand it was de‐ signed to complement digital and face‐to‐face content, thus facilitating real‐time commu‐ nication to those who could not attend the fair, with all the necessary mechanisms to develop live streaming.

LOVE ISLAND is ‘set to return’ to Mallorca as Spain opened its borders without the need for a Covid test. Fans had been speculating as to where the ITV show ‐ that has promised it will air this summer ‐ will take place after it was forced to cancel the 2020 summer series amid the pandemic. The ’Love Island’ crew jetted back to Mallorca in search of love and rumour has it a frontline NHS worker has been signed up for the show. The series is due to be filmed at a luxury villa near Sant Llorenç des Cardassar and the 12 single, male and female contestants will live in isolation for two months, but all their shenanigans inside and outside the villa will be recorded by an army of 80 HD infra red cameras. Filming of the ever‐popular ITV show was suspended last year because of the coronavirus pandemic and the ‘Love Island’ producers apparently considered moving the show to another location this year, but in the end they just couldn’t resist returning to Mallorca. The planned eight week run of the 'Love Island' sum‐ mer show is definitely a ratings winner but ‘Winter Love Island’ has reportedly been put on hold, at least for now.

Set to film in Mallorca.
