the trio attempted to steal the man’s wallet, and when he put up a struggle, they struck him a number of times in the back with what looked like a small penknife. They then fled with his wallet and his mobile phone. The witness frantically called the emergency services and an ambulance rushed the man to
a local hospital. Police meanwhile took details about the ‘terrifying trio’ from the witness, and with the help of CCTV images, the suspects were very quickly identified and arrested. According to sources, upon searching the homes of the detained 16 and 17year-olds, police found
clothes that apparently matched the description given by the witness, together with more knives. The victim remains in hospital with doctors confirming he sustained ‘a punctured lung, a potentially life-threatening injury.’ The case is being dealt with by the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office of Alicante.
