ALMERIA wants to keep up the momentum of the city’s 2019 national gastronomy capital status. With a view to seeing the provincial capital widely recognised as a top ‘foodie’ tourist destination, the city council has devised a fresh marketing strategy for next year. Speaking at the inauguration of the fourth ‘Almeria beyond 2019 Ideas Forum, city mayor Ramon Fernandez-Pacheco unveiled a new slogan for 2020: ‘Almeria Ciudad Gastronomica. Para comersela,’ translating more or less as ‘Almeria Gastronomy City. Irresistible.’ The council leader revealed there will be a new headquarters in the city’s central market for activities promoting cuisine. Also on the agenda is an annual gastronomy congress, which promises to bring together top professionals and the best of national cooking. Further plans to appeal to
