Stop, thief LOCAL POLICE have arrested a person allegedly caught in the act as they tried to rob a store in Rincon de la Victoria. The incident took place at around 1am when a neighbour alerted police to a person allegedly trying to force their way into a shop in Plaza Gloria Fuertes, La Cala del Moral. Members of the Local Police are said to have attended the scene and surprised the man, identified only as ATG, as he tried to make his way in. According to Spanish media, the suspect was allegedly trying to force an a l u m i n i u m d o o r, having already broken the glass in the door. Police claim the suspect was also carrying a 16-centimetre long instrument to break in, as well as a knife measuring seven centimetres. After arresting the man, officers t r a n s f e r re d h i m t o the Guardia Civil barracks.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 30 years old are said to have carried out thefts across a dozen farmhouses and farms. According to the National Police, the group stole around 27,800 kilos of avocados, mainly in the El Trapiche area, and causing more than €60,000 of damage.
