SEPRONA OFFICERS: Found two dead horses amongst other animals, dead on a farm in Motril.

Shocking animal abuse By Sally Underwood POLICE have arrested a man in Motril after six animals were allegedly found dead on his farm. Officers from Seprona - the environmental protection arm of the Guardia Civil - have charged the suspect with animal cruelty after two horses and four sheep reportedly died from neglect.

The man, who is said to have a criminal record, had allegedly been warned about the condition of his animals at a previous inspection on November 28. They said on the first visit by a Seprona patrol and a veterinarian, they discovered the bodies of four sheep which had starved to death after becoming trapped in their own waste. The suspect, who had his head covered, threatened a female staff member who was alone in the building, before taking all the money in the cash register. According to sources, the suspect did not use a weapon and fled on foot. It is not yet known how much money he took. The incident occurred at around 8am last Friday and sources say police may already know his identity.
