Car fraud

A MAN has denounced a car seller in Salobreña claiming the car he bought had been tampered with. Officers from the Guardia Civil in Salobreña are now investigating and have questioned a 43-year-old man who is said to have a criminal record. The suspect is accused of selling a car to his victim in May in Roquetas de Mar, Alme-

ria. His accuser says he bought the car for €15,000 before it developed a fault several days later and he took it to a garage. A mechanic there reportedly told him the kilometre counter had been tampered with, leading the man to take the car to an authorised dealer who allegedly confirmed this. Using this information, the man denounced the suspect to the Guardia Civil.

A PARAGLIDER has crash landed in Almuñecar. The as yet unnamed victim was forced to make an emergency landing on the town’s Velilla Promenade on Saturday. The incident took place at around 4.55pm, causing concern amongst onlookers

POLICE have brought down a gang of four men thought to be responsible for a series of violent robberies in Axarquia. Officers from the Guardia Civil arrested four Romanian men for allegedly carrying out 18 burglaries in rural parts of Nerja, Torrox and Algarrobo. The suspects have been handed over to the Judicial Authority and two have been remanded in custody. Officers from the Nerja Guardia Civil began investigating in an operation named ‘Cortijeros’ after receiving complaints of several robberies in the countryside. Last month, following police surveillance, officers identified and detained two alleged members of the group accused of taking part in six burglaries in Nerja and Frigiliana.
