A PLEA for help has gone out from one of Spain’s best known horse rescue centres after a string of events left it €26,000 in debt. Easy Care Horse Rescue Centre in Rojales looks after 120 horses, ponies and donkeys, most of which have been rescued from the most shocking cruelty. The centre’s founders, Sue and Rod Weeding, have to come up with €5,000 a week to meet

expenses, but in recent months the centre has got into debt despite the best efforts of volunteer fundraisers and its string of six charity shops plus a tea room. Sue and Rod have faced a succession of extra and unexpected expenses and are calling for donations to help keep the centre going. The couple’s run of bad luck included a €900 garage bill after the centre’s 4x4 - used for collecting new rescues and vet visits - broke down.

SHOCKING: Luceiro lost an eye to neglect.
