THE parents of a child injured after being sucked into the suction vent of a pool in Roquetas de Mar have spoken to Spanish media about the accident. The mother and father of Jose Manuel said he was currently receiving psychological help following the incident and that he constantly has nightmares of dying in it. “It was agonising. They added they hoped he would recover soon and be able to return to a normal life. Mario Park’s management said in a statement its facilities met all safety standards and that the incident had taken place due to the vent’s protective grid being removed for repairs. “We work hard to ensure the safety of our users,” the park said.

Sex abuse rap TWO woman accused of sexually exploiting a young Nigerian in Roquetas de Mar face six-and-a-half year jail terms. The victim had been ‘brainwashed’ by voodoo magic in her native Nigeria before being brought to Spain and forced to prostitute herself to pay off a €25,000 ‘debt’ for her transport to Spain after she had been promised a better life. One of the suspects contacted the victim via an unidentified third parties and offered to pay her travel costs to Morocco, according to a court statement. After the young woman agreed and arrived in the North African country she was left to beg for almost a year before fleeing to Libya and ending up in a refugee camp in Sicily. Once there, she was again contacted by the accused, who told her to come to Almeria, where she was informed of her financial obligation on arrival.
