Tensions rise Sex workers spark outrage
HOLIDAYMAKERS and locals in Magaluf have continued to see tensions increase in the area popular with tourists following the arrest of five British expatriates in connection with anti-prostitution protests. Demonstrations there come as reports in British and Spanish media this week have featured stories alleging pick pocketing from sex workers and members of the gangs who control them. Bodies representing hotels and other tourist businesses have also said they fear the image of the destination is being tarnished by the rise in crime. Local authorities have called for more to be done to tackle such issues including increasing police numbers.
