Th e b o d y wa s d i s c o v e re d d u rin g a search for the 33-year-old. It was found close to a burnt out car also belonging to the man in the Las Castañetas area, according to reports. Forensic investigators added the injuries had been caused by a knife or a similar sharp weapon. National Police officers began investigating the circumstances around the death
after the body was found. Francisco Javier Lopez Padilla was last seen leaving home to go to Guadalhorce’s hospital after experiencing pain on Thursday April 26. He reportedly sent a message to his partner to tell her he was on his way home later that evening. He never returned and his family alerted the authorities that he had gone missing the following day. The charred body of Javier ’s car was found by police searching for him on Friday afternoon. Officers said they found no traces of human remains in the wreckage. The search resumed on Monday and police then found the body which police believe was thrown into the river after the 33-year-old was stabbed to death. The corpse was found around 100 metres away from the vehicle.
The 35-year-old detainee reportedly reached Carlos Haya hospital separately where he gave his name when admitted. Guardia Civil officers visited the hospital to talk to the suspect but found that he was discharged when they arrived. The hospital was not able to identify him as part of patient confidentiality.

Road reopens TRAFFIC is flowing again after a split in the MA-4108 highway - caused by March floods - has been repaired. Development minister Francisco Oblare announced the completed repairs on the road which connects Sedella, Salares, Archez and Canillas de Aceituno. The highway gave way to floodwaters on the stretch between Salares and Archez. Damage especially affected Competa school students after it cut off access. Schoolchildren needed creativity and a sense of adventure to overcome the obstacle which was straddled with a temporary bridge. Two school buses would meet at the fracture point every morning to pick up the students who were dropped off and picked up on either side of the make-shift crossover. This short-term measure saved students taking a 30-kilometre detour into school. Oblare said works continue with the installation of a drainage area and added the rubble from the road collapse is being used to fill in nearby slip lanes and other roads damaged in the floods. The provincial government invested €250,000 in the repair works. The same rains that caused the damage also trapped a man in a car as he attempted to cross the Sabra River, which had burst its banks.
