Expat boy death Residents pay tearful tribute Locals in La Zenia have paid tribute to a British child who died after a football accident. The nine-year-old, named as Kai, was reportedly playing football with a group of other youngsters when he ran into one of them. He collapsed after suffering a heart attack. The 112 emergency services line was called shortly afterward. A Local Police patrol passing by the area stopped to help revive him. A basic life support ambulance arrived around 25 minutes after the accident and they continued efforts to revive the nine-year-old who did not respond. Anot h e r a m b u l a n c e arrived with resuscitation equipment about 40 minutes after the first call was made. Paramedics were able to restart the boy’s pulse before he was taken by helicopter to Alicante General Hospital. He died around 24 hours after the accident first occurred whilst in a coma caused by a lack of oxygen. O r i h u e l a ’s c o u n c i l o f fered its condolences to Kai’s family in a statement, who are reportedly wellknown in the area. “We wish to express our utmost condolences over the loss of the child, of British origin, as a result of

members of local associations for the tribute at the spot on the beach where Kai died.
Airport numbers soar THE Alicante-Elche Airport that serves Spain’s Costa Blanca has recorded 957,857 passengers in the month of March. By nationality the United Kingdom was top of the table with 364,969 passengers; followed by Spain (132,058), the Netherlands (67,644), Norway (65,166), Germany (56,444) and Belgium with 50,454 passengers. The Alicante-Elche Airport managed a total of 6,734 flights in March, which represents an increase of 4.7 per cent over the same month of the previous year. And during the first three months of the year, the airport saw a total of 2,375,523 passengers pass through its terminal - up 4.2 per cent on the same period last year.
