Sex pest arrest POLICE have detained a ‘cyber-predator’ who allegedly groomed underage children online. The Madrid-based 40year-old now faces trial for corrupting a minor after reportedly arranging to travel to Malaga to meet a boy aged under 12 for sex. The computer scientist was arrested after the victim’s mother told police her son had been engaging in explicit sexual conversations with the man on a social network who had encouraged him to provide pornographic photographs. Officers made various attempts to find the accused, initially investigating three other people living in various parts of Spain. Police then began to suspect the man they were looking for had high levels of computer skills which he used to cover up his activities, deflecting blame onto third parties. Once they uncovered the alleged culprit, officers raided his home, reportedly uncovering computers, hard drives, cameras and digital devices which are now being analysed. Police said the first data recovered from the technology points to the accused sharing paedophilic images with his victim. Officers added they found a large number of paedophile images amongst the seized software with victims ranging from 11 to 17 years old.

LA VIÑUELA reservoir is no longer on drought alert after rainfall brought its levels to 57 billion litres. The reservoir, which had been at drought level for the past nine months, now has the same water quantity it did before the alert last year. Jose Fiscal, Minister for Environment and Territorial Planning, explained, “There is more water than a month ago in the reservoir.” Speaking about softening restrictions of irrigating, Fiscal added, “of course we are going to review restrictions.” Following drought warnings, Axarquia’s farmers had been forced to dramatically reduce the amount of water they gave their crops. The problem also saw water company Emasa channelling 10,000 cubic metres of drinking water a day to the La Viñuela reservoir. Viñuela’s water levels before this month’s heavy rainfall sat at around 22 per cent with only 35 cubic hectometres remaining. Since early January, Emasa has been diverting around 100 litres of water a second to Viñuela in the hope of slowing the rate at which water levels decreased. Homes in Rincon de la Victoria, Totalan, Moclinejo, Macharaviaya and Velez-Malaga are now receiving water from the Gualdahorce reservoir following the move by Emasa.
