Bent copper rap An ex-National Police inspector has been handed a sixyear jail term for peddling drugs in an Alicante brothel that he ran himself. A probe was launched in 2012 after an employee who worked in the club on San Juan beach reported a number of alleged crimes. She decided to notify the authorities after realising that the management continued to sell cocaine to a friend who was ‘hooked’ and was spending all the money she earned. To their surprise, the Internal Affairs Unit identified an individual who was at the time a serving inspector with the Alicante National Police. A court authorised the covert monitoring of the suspect’s telephone calls, his home, and the brothel. A sum of €13,769 in cash was found in the club, along with 10 grams of cocaine, both of which were duly confiscated. The man’s house and car also contained a small amount of cocaine, as well as some hashish, MDMA and amphetamines. he was the true director of the establishment.’ The court also ruled that the man directly participated

in drug trafficking inside the premises, either being involved in supply, or approving transactions.

Toddling along A 27-YEAR-OLD man from Orihuela has been investigated after a video showing a young child at the wheel of his lorry was posted on social media. Images and videos uploaded to Facebook appear to show a four-year-old boy at the controls of the vehicle, steering alongside an adult. A probe was launched after the boy’s father, who lives in Norway, reported the incident to the police. As a result, the mother of the child, a 23-year-old woman from Torre Pacheco in Murcia, and the 27-year-old driver have been quizzed by the Guardia Civil’s Traffic division.
