Shooting suspect could face 30 years A MAN accused of shooting a 19-year-old woman with a shotgun in Oria could go to prison for 30 years if the court accepts a request from prosecutors. The court in Almeria heard that the defendant was looking for the woman’s mother when he arrived at their home. He fired the gun to break the lock before going inside. Two of the mother’s four children, the 19-year-old and her 16year-old sister, were in the house
at the time and went to see what had happened. The man then asked them where their mother was. He left when they told him she was not at home. He then
turned back into the building and fired the gun, hitting the 19-yearold from a range of less than a metre, prosecutors said. The woman was hit in the up-
per chest and died instantly. The defendant then went to the Cruz de San Marcos where he fired the gun into a slab of marble until it fractured.
