Dodging justice
BUSTED: Police not fooled by hiding places. POLICE surprised a drug dealer cruising around Adra selling cocaine. They watched as he plied his trade around different leisure centres, bars and cafes. After a surveillance operation, they decided to stop and search the vehicle. Officers found 14 grams of cocaine hidden in different places. Eight grams were in a speaker on the dashboard. Another six were found in the fuse box underneath the steering wheel. More than €700 was also found. They arrested the local man, aged 35, and charged him with a crime against public health.
Stabber seized A MAN from Belgium wanted under a European arrest warrant for the attempted murder of his ex-wife has been held in Carboneras. The 31-year-old, originally from the Belgian town of Koksijde, allegedly stabbed his ex-wife 18 times while they were discussing who would get custody of their four children. The man is believed to have attacked the woman with two different knives, until she pretended to be dead, and then fled the scene.

Trigger happy Police seize firearms during raid By Matthew Elliott Two Kalashnikov AK-47 rifles were seized at an Almeria property by Guardia Civil officers. Both weapons were capable of firing live rounds. Police also discovered two silencers and 12 rounds of ammunition. The raid took place at a property in El Parador de las Hortichuelas. Also found was a replica pistol, more silencers and a total of 800 bullets. All the
weapons uncovered had been stripped of their model identification and any details of their manufacture. Police were hunting the alleged owner of the weapons when they raided the property. The local man, aged 51 and identified as A E , w a s n ’t h o m e a t t h e time. He was later arrested by Guardia Civil officers in M e l i l l a , S p a i n ’s N o r t h African territory. He is charged with possessing assault weapons and ammunition. He has a
history of criminal activity with convictions for drug possession, forgery and attacking police officers. Police are now analysing the weapons to determine their origin and whether they were used in a crime. Kalashnikovs found in Spain often come from the f o r m e r Yu g o s l a v i a v i a smuggling gangs. Police across Almeria Province are under instructions to be on constant lookout for such weapons in case they fall into the hands of terrorists.
A MAN accused of stabbing his partner has committed suicide while in police custody. The 46- year- ol d reportedly stabbed hi s wi f e, aged 43, twice in the side in Aguadulce. The man was held by pol i ce but f i r st taken to hospital to receive minor treatment. Several hours after he was placed in a cell, he allegedly used his trousers to hang himself. His wife, who had t o undergo em er gency surger y f or her stab wounds, remains in hospital but is recovering from her injuries, accordi ng t o l ocal m edi a sources.
