Talked down A 43-YEAR-OLD Belgian woman was talked out of throwing herself from her balcony after allegedly suffering years of abuse from her husband. The resident of Torre del Mar was found by police sitting on the railing of her balcony and threatening to jump before a man apparently persuaded her to come inside. Police then spoke to the woman who was said to be in “a state of great anxiety.” She allegedly told officers she had been physically and mentally abused by her husband for a year. Police apparently confirmed the woman had bruises on various parts of her body. Her 48-year-old Belgian husband has now been held on suspicion of domestic abuse.

Dog owners warned over DNA By Sally Underwood More than 9,000 pet owners are at risk of being fined for failing to register their dogs’ DNA by the end of September. Animal-lovers in Rincon de la Victoria had until September 24 to register their animal on a DNA database, however only 500 of the 9,700 dogs in the area have been so far.

Owners who failed to comply with the regulation now face a €2,000 fine if stopped. The scheme was designed to encourage dog owners to clean up after their pets as well as to prevent dog abandonment and dognapping. His body was found next to a lane of the N340 around two hours later. The deceased apparently often practised the hobby around Almuñecar and La Herradura.

TWO people have been arrested in Benamocarra after their alleged involvement in several robberies in Granada and Cordoba, addingup to an estimated value of €40,000. It has been reported the pair were part of a group that targeted several establishments such as supermarkets, tobacconists and bars to steal money from cash registers, slot machines and tobacco vending machines, as well as also stealing the tobacco. A third person is still at large after injuring a Guardia Civil officer while he was resisting arrest. The Guardia Civil reportedly began their investigation last February after an increase in robberies in the area, and set-up a monitoring device in an attempt to intercept the vehicles used in the robberies.
