Triple arrest THE Guardia Civil have arrested three people who are charged with 17 counts of theft. The three people arrested, two men, aged 44 and 22, and a 38-year-old woman, are all residents of Alicante. According to various complaints, the thefts were allegedly carried out by members of the trio, who would ask victims for directions and then use large maps as a distraction. The thefts were committed in the municipality of Crevillent, with the reported estimated value of the items stolen approximately ₏18,000. All three have been released on probation.
Police attacker on trial A MOROCCAN Immigrant is facing 10 years in jail after he disarmed a Guardia Civil officer. Towfid B is about to go on trial after reportedly attacking two officers who had gone to identify him on April 7 last year. The 29-year-old has since spent a year and a half in prison for the incident that occurred in Calle Adolfo Cardona Pascual in Callosa de Segura. If found guilty, he could face 11 years in prison.

Fatal smash Police hold lorry driver By Kat Ashton Spanish police have arrested the driver of a lorry which allegedly caused a mass pile-up that killed five people and left 10 injured, three seriously. The accident occurred on
Monday at around 6.30pm on the A-7 motorway near the La Paz service station in Sangonera la Seca, Murcia and involved two lorries, two vans and nine cars. It has been reported that the lorry hit several vehicles as they
were stuck in a traffic jam on the motorway following a previous accident. Various witnesses claimed that instead of slowing down, the truck careered into the pile up of cars at full speed, sparking further chaos.
