Time for porkies! A GROUP of British volunteers have captured 42 Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs in Javea. As previously reported in the Euro Weekly News, the town has been suffering from a plague of the domesticated hogs after several escaped from captivity. But they have become a pest for residents after breeding freely in the Cala Blanca neighbourhood. The group collected included 24 adults and 18 piglets, and they have been taken to Madrid.

Busted! Drugs gang held By Linda Hall Ten people have been held after police swooped on a drugs gang in Gandia. Six men and four women, all aged between 26 and 62, were arrested as police officers stormed numerous properties and storage facilities, seizing more than a kilogram of cocaine, 45 grams of hashish and around €40,000 in cash, along with a vehicle, three mobile phones and equipment used to package the drugs. The investigation began in June when the police suspected that a restaurant owner in Gandia was selling drugs together with his partner. Of the cocaine seized, 393 grams were enveloped in ‘wraps’ ready for sale. Of the detainees - Colombians, Spaniards and Ukranians - five already have criminal records.
