Pool toddler fights for life By Tahnee Wright A 14-month-old British toddler is fighting for his life after falling into a Javea swimming pool. Twenty-four hours after the incident the boy’s condition was reported to be ‘critical’ as neighbours shared information on Facebook, wishing the youngster “a speedy recovery,” and sending “thoughts and prayers to the family.” The incident happened at a villa on the Toscalet urbanisation near Arenal beach, with the boy’s parents immediately calling 112 after noticing he had fallen into the pool. Local Police officers managed to resuscitate him after he was pulled from the pool at 11.40am on Monday without a pulse and having swallowed a lot of water.
TRAGEDY STRIKES TWICE: This is the second incident of its kind in less than three months on the Marina Alta. An ambulance took him to Hospital de Denia-MarinaSalud and he was later transferred to Hospital Clinico de Valencia where he was incubated in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU). At the time of going to press it had not been confirmed whether the boy’s unnamed British family were on holiday or live on the
private development. In May, a three-year-old British boy who spent almost one week in intensive care after falling into a swimming pool in Denia lost his fight for life. He was admitted into the same ICU at Hospital Clinico de Valencia and failed to overcome brain damage suffered while he was underwater.
