Ganga garage POLICE in Velez-Malaga have uncovered and seized 1,399 marihuana plants and arrested four men for endangering public health as well as stealing electricity. The illicit crop was cultivated in a garage which could only be accessed by a secret hole in a kitchen floor and which was illegally connected to the electric grid. See page 2

By John Smith Thieves using explosives to blow open a cash machine have struck again. The b l a st wr e c k e d th e front of the BMN bank in La Herradura. Nobody living above the branch was hurt but damage to t h e f a ç a d e o f th e building in the Paseo Andrés Segovia is extensive. The gang struck around 3am but it has not been revealed i f t h e y g o t a w ay
with any money. Malaga Province was plagued for several months last year by a spate of attacks on bank ATMs using explosives. The offenders in some cases used acetylene gas to produce the blasts. It was thought most of the attacks had come to an end with the arrest of two Britons in November. They had been blasting open cash machines, strikin g a t w ee k en d s o r Ba nk

Police were forced to iss ue s a fe ty guide line s to their officers about how to approach blast scenes in the aftermath of the explosions because of the unsafe and indiscriminate nature of the attacks.

Scrumpers stomped The explosion in La Herradura in the early hours of Tuesday is being investigated by the Local Police and the G ua rdia C ivil of A lmuñecar.
SIX men have been arrested suspected of belonging to a criminal group and stealing more than 26,500 kilos of fruit and veg from farms in Malaga, Granada and Almeria provinces. The prime suspect is a businessman who exploited his profession as a wholesaler to box up and sell the purloined produce, typically mixed with legal wares of lower quality. See page 12
