Captured! The enemy within SEVEN arrests in terror swoop across Costa Blanca

By Matthew Elliott SUSPECTED members of a Daesh linked terrorist cell have been detained in the Valencian community and Costa Blanca, specifically Crevillente, L’Alqueria d’Asnar, Muro, Alcoy and Alicante. They are charged with camouflaging weapons caches as humanitarian aid to Iraq and Syria. The Interior ministry revealed the dismantled cell laundered money to finance the jihadi cause, and it

is understood that five of the men had Spanish nationality, although all were of Syrian, Jordanian or Moroccan origin. They are accused of smuggling arms, cash, electronics, transmitters and bomb materials to various Middle East jihadi outfits and playing a significant logistical role in the surge of terrorist attacks across the region. The arrests come soon after a video warning that Daesh ‘has not forgotten Cordoba, Toledo and Xativa.’

Asked if these threats should be taken seriously when he recently visited the Betera (Valencia) Nato base, acting Minister of Defence Pedro Morenes said he had no doubts about it. “They want what is ours. I exclude absolutely nothing,” he said. Anti-terrorism experts have likened the threat to an emotive call to arms for propaganda and recruitment purposes. Daesh recruiters and organisers are present in the Valencian Community owing to increased vigilance in

Ceuta and Melilla, experts explained after this latest operation. “The terrorists go to places where they feel comfortable and the Valencian Community is one of them,” they said.
