Last orders for pub crawl culture
MAGALUF says number of partying youngsters has fallen Hoteliers are elated with the latest figures indicating that the infamous pub crawl culture is dying a slow but certain death. Magaluf has said that the so-called pub-crawling tours have been done away with and that tourism in the town is changing for the better.
The council says that 2015 has been the year in which Calvia has changed and the president of the Palmanova-Magaluf Hoteliers Association, Sebastian Darder, as well as Mayor of Calvia, Alfonso Rodriguez, have confirmed that this is thanks to the efforts of local businesses.
The number of families, adults and couples has risen by 3.3 per cent, while the number of partying youngsters has fallen by 2.6 per cent, which has improved the image of the town. The number of all-inclusive packages has been reduced as well, encouraging visitors to use local establishments.

Volunteers wanted for uni study THE Balearic Islands University is seeking 230 volunteers for a study on the effects of caffeine and physical activity. The Evidence, Lifestyles and Health Research Group will evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect which consuming caffeine and carrying out exercise has on the body. Volunteers must be between 20 and 55 and carry out at least 10 hours of exercise per week, not take anti-inflammatory medicines and not have any illnesses on the day of the study, including colds or respiratory infections.
