Walking the streets of the popular seaside town, Euro Weekly News was pleasantly surprised to see how busy everything appeared to be and stopped for a chat with local policemen to see what
they had to say about the season so far. One officer, while attempting to organise queues of cars cramming the streets and fighting for space in the public carpark, told us: “Busy? There are more people here this summer than we have seen for 15 years!” While the police have their work cut out keeping the traffic under control, local business-owners are once again starting to smile, safe in the knowledge that,
for this season at least, things are finally looking up. Along with generally improving circumstances, activity in the town has undoubtedly increased due to the 56th International Festival of Music and Dance, nicknamed the Caves Concert, which attracted 10,000 people, according to official figures. Concerts were held both at the nearby caves and in Plaza de España.
