SHOW focuses on young singles looking for romance
By Maria JosĂŠ Fernandez Steamy ITV hit reality show Love Island is being shot in Mallorca and as well as raising the temperature of the contestants, the show is giving a serious boost to the local economy. The production team has booked almost 10,000 hotel nights in establishments on the island, mainly in
the area of Colonia de Sant Jordi (pictured). Filming is currently taking place at a mansion in Ses Salines, which is reportedly fitted with 69 cameras, a bar area and the pool is accredited as the biggest in Mallorca. Hosted by Caroline Flack, the show kicked off on June 7 and will focus on young singles from the UK
and Ireland, on their journey to find a summer love. The show is expected to draw the attention of hundreds of tourists interested in getting to know the exact location of the shooting. In addition, the show has already created a large number of job positions as well as boosted takings in the tills of local businesses.

Start-ups take off MORE than 1,500 new businesses have been created in the Balearic Islands during the first five months of 2015. This figure translates into a 10 per cent increase, if compared with the same period of 2014, according to a study compiled by D&B analysts. Numbers are also significantly better than the national average, which registered a 2 per cent fall in terms of business creation between January and May. In May, 341 businesses came into being on the islands, 11 per cent more than last year. By sector, it was construction with 64 new firms and hotel with 59, which led the way.
