By Jan Gamm Pleas have gone out to find homes for puppies after an animal refuge has been swamped with abandoned animals. In the last month no less than 17 puppies were abandoned in the affluent Javea area, most left outside rubbish containers in bags and in cardboard boxes, exposed to the heat of the day and the dangers of the road. Most of the puppies being rescued and taken to shelters are of an age where they are ready to be weaned, but all are hungry and frightened. Local animal shelter APASA Turn to Page 3
