Appeal for Nepal By Staff Reporter The Nepal earthquake, which has taken more than 6,600 lives, has affected just about all of the Costa Blanca’s Nepali population. Frantically worried, the staff at the Himalaya Tandoori Restaurant in Moraira are in constant contact with a former employee who sends daily news - and harrowing pictures - from home. “Please help us,” said Chef Thapa. “We cannot stand by and do nothing while our brothers are suffering.” Meanwhile, the Costa Blanca is responding to the call. Benidorm’s Councillor for Social Welfare Cristina Escoda has confirmed that the town will donate €6,000 to UNICEF to help with its aid programme.
