Postal strikes New THREE full-day strikes for postal workers have been called for May 4, 15 and 22, and partial strikes for April 30, May 14 and 21. The CCOO, UGT, CSI-F and SindicatoLibre trades unions, which represent 80 per cent of Correos post office union members, have called the strikes to push for negotiations, which have been blocked for a yearand-a-half, and to protest at the loss of 15,500 jobs since 2010.

By Linda Hall AN amendment to a draft bill modifying Mortgage and Cadastral Property acts could solve home-buyers’ future problems. The bill has reached Spain’s Upper House, the Senate, and the amendment will be put forward by the PSOE socialist group although the proposal originated with Malaga and Axarquia support group SOHA and its sister organisation in Almeria AUAN. home that appears “perfect” on the property registry, said Gerardo Vazquez, the legal adviser to both groups. “Nevertheless, this house could be illegal and the buyer will not be protected by the registry.” Buyers should be able to rely on what the registry says, Vazquez argued, but according to the Supreme Court’s interpretation of the Mortgage Act, the property registry does not protect innocent third parties against problems that are absent from the register. If the PSOE initiative prospers, buyers will be protected because the property’s legal situation would be clearly noted.
