British hero risks life in sea rescue attempt Exclusive interview by Steve Walsh A BRITISH holidaymaker who made an heroic attempt to save one of two boys who died on Monday at Venus Beach Marbella, has condemned the local authorities for not being prepared for such an emergency. As Andrew Broughton (pictured with his wife Michelle) battled the waves in an attempt to reach the drowning boy, Michelle was on shore screaming for assistance. Two students aged 18 and 19 and their 30-year-old teacher died in the incident. They were part of a large group of Turkish visitors on holiday in the area, who decided to go for a swim with tragic results. Although people sunbathing on the beach originally thought the bathers were playing about as they waved their arms in the air, they

soon realised the group was in trouble and rushed to help. Another 16-year-old boy was taken to the Costa del Sol hospital and

at the time of going to press was said to be in a serious but stable condition. Turn to Page 6
